For Your Diary: The Nutcracker, Sassy Mama’s Guide to Hanukkah, Artful Kids Christmas Cards Session, The 11th Classics for Kids Christmas Concert, Island East Markets & The Psychology of Technology Lecture

It’s a busy (ok, insane) time of year and we’ve got loads going on – here’s a look: First up, what’s the holiday season without The Nutcracker, right??  The classic tale hits the HK Ballet’s stage starting this Friday so grab your tix fast.  And if you’re feeling lucky, we have THREE family packs of four tickets to the Sunday 16th Dec night performance to give away!  

For those celebrating Hanukkah, here’s the lowdown on all the goings-on during the Festival of Light. On Sunday we’re popping by the East Island Market in the morning to pick up some tasty treats (perfect for hostess gifts), before hitting up the seriously fun and interactive 11th Classics For Kids Christmas Concert. And speaking of kids, we’ve just registered them for a fun holiday card workshop with Artful Kids next week – which includes healthy snacks for them... and vino for usAnd finally, if you have an iPad obsessed kiddo before you break for the holidays be sure to sign up for the January talk and Q&A with the renowned Dr Larry Rosen on the impact of technology on the brain that will look at what parents can do to make sure little minds don’t get overloaded.

The Nutcracker
What: HK Ballet presents The Nutcracker
When: 14 – 26 December
Why Go: This year, Hong Kong Ballet has brought Australian choreographer Terence Kohler on board to rework this much-loved production and give it a new lease of life. The revived show promises to be stunning, with elaborate handmade sets inspired by colonial-era Hong Kong, the classic Tchaikovsky score performed by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, and of course oodles of gorgeous costumes to swoon over.
