December is here and it is time to schedule one last mama catch up before the year’s end. Make it a festive affair with a cocktail at one of these Hong Kong bars. There’s mulled wine and classic winter warmers, as well as some creative and inventive concoctions from the city’s top mixologists!

Hue

The newly opened Hue at the Hong Kong Museum of Art should definitely be at the top of your list to try for a drink (and delicious food!). Take in the stunning view of Victoria Harbour (especially nice at this time of year with the Christmas lights! ) through the floor-to-ceiling windows in the elegant lounge area while sipping on some seasonal mulled wine.

Sassy Mama tip: This is a great dinner spot before or after seeing HK Ballet’s The Nutcracker, right next door at the Cultural Centre.

Hue, Hong Kong Museum Of Art, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong, 3500 5888, www.huedining.com.hk

Madame Fù

You’ll feel festive as soon as you walk into the courtyard at Tai Kwun, but the view is best enjoyed with a drink in hand from the balcony at Madame Fù. Sip on the warming “Sleigh Bells Ring” with cinnamon vodka, Frangelico and Creme de Cacao Dark or spice it up with the citrussy “Orange Is The New Black,” both available throughout the holiday season.

Madame Fù, 3/F, Barrack Block, Tai Kwun, No. 10 Hollywood Road, Central District, Hong Kong, 2114 2118, [email protected], www.madamefu.com.hk

Ink

Just downstairs from Hue, you’ll find Ink, the perfect spot for a casual alfresco drink. The laid-back seaside vibe will have you thinking of harbourfront Sydney, especially with a craft brew in hand! For those avoiding alcohol, you’ll find a range of artisanal iced teas and sodas.

AMARE Bistro & Wine

A new one for the mamas of Tseung Kwan O to try! As well as serving up varied Italian fare, you can enjoy sipping on the Champiña Colada (think a Prosecco Piña Colada!). Enjoy it while sitting on the waterfront terrace and you’ll feel a world away from the Hong Kong city life.

The Dispensary

Back by popular demand is The Dispensary’s “Noel Nightcap” – a Christmassy blend of cognac, biscuit liqueur, Earl Grey reduction, almond milk and cinnamon. Served up in a delightful bauble glass it is the perfect way to get in the spirit.

Zuma

With the changing of the seasons comes a revamped cocktail menu from Zuma! The winter will certainly be a cool affair with two frozen martinis — the Japanese Gin Martini and the Japanese Vodka Martini (both $140). The cocktails are “supercooled” to be served below zero using a new technique — fractional freezing — and served up quite literally ice cold! It’s a truly unique new cocktail offering in Hong Kong. On the latest menu, you’ll also find the Italian Samurai, made using fig-infused vodka and the Akarui Colada, which is a completely transparent Pina Colada-style infusion, served over a diamond-shaped ice cube.
