Kai Tak Promenade Playground, Kai Tak

Did someone say rocket ship? The Southern waterfront of The Hong Kong Children’s Hospital in Kai Tak is home to family-friendly facilities including a large lawn area, a children’s outdoor playground featuring aviation-themed play areas, benches and rest areas. There’s even a baby care room nearby.

Cha Kwo Ling Promenade, Kwun Tong

We’re big fans of seaside playgrounds and the one at Cha Kwo Ling Promenade is no exception! Bring the kids to the pavilions, play areas, climbing equipment and swings or watch them frolic around giant open spaces. You can even bring your pooch along and head to the pet park!

Sham Shui Po Park, Sham Shui Po

This 6,400 square meter children’s outdoor playground boasts three large nature-themed play zones. Kids will love the “Sandy Bunker” zone featuring climbing towers, a sand pit and a spiral tube slide, the “Jungle Meadow” zone with swings, flower bells and petal drums and the “Oasis Spring” zone with a splash sensory wall, octopus fountain and trampolines.

MOKO Children’s Playground, Mong Kok

Located on the fourth floor at MOKO, this children’s playground was the talk of the town when it first opened in 2021! It covers an area of 18,000 feet. It has a climbing wall that is 8 meters off the ground, bird theme play equipment with slides, rope climbers, swings and more. What makes it even better is that it’s right next to the food court where you can take the kids after playtime!

Tsuen Wan Plaza Play Area, Tsuen Wan

With a colourful rainbow theme, this outdoor playground has an eight-metre-tall tower with three slides, perfect for kids who love adventure (and are not afraid of heights!). It also has a climbing castle, a spinning rope to climb on and mini hills with ropes, rubes and slides. For the little tots, there are bouncy clouds, musical tubes and baby swings.

Shung Ling Street Playground, Wong Tai Sin

Incorporating its green surroundings into the design, this playground features a nest swing, a carousel, a climbing play house and ball-shaped balancing play facilities. If you need more reasons to love this playground, the safety mats here feature floral designs created by students at Po Leung Kuk Mrs Chan Nam Chong Memorial Primary School – how adorable is that!

Ping Shek Playground, Choi Hung

Another hidden gem is this dinosaur-themed outdoor playground tucked away in Choi Hung. It makes for a great day out for the kids, as they explore caves and discover all things dinosaurs. The playground also has a 7-a-side soccer pitch, tennis courts and table tennis facilities.

Kowloon Tsai Park, Kowloon Tong

Home to a beautiful Bauhinia garden with around 120 bauhinia trees, Kowloon Tsai Park is located near Kowloon Tong Station Exit E. There are soccer pitches, a roller skating rink, a jogging track, a children’s playground, plus a dog garden for your furry friends.

Kowloon Park, Tsim Sha Tsui

Just like Hong Kong Park on the other side of the harbour, Kowloon Park has a beautiful lake and plays host to 18 different species of birds (including some rather fabulous flamingos). Facilities include football pitches, extensive gardens, an ornamental maze and a playground. Also on site is Kowloon Park’s huge aquatic centre with several indoor and outdoor pools and Kowloon Park Sports Centre, with sports halls and courts galore. Jordan Valley Park, Kwun Tong

If you’re looking for a full day out with the family, we highly recommend Jordan Valley Park! It’s huge, it has two model car racetracks, a maze garden, a greenhouse, a children’s play area and sprawling lawns for family picnics – what’s not to love?

The Peak Galleria Playground, The Peak

Make your way to level one at the Peak Galleria where you’ll find slides, climbing apparatus and ample seating spots for you to enjoy the view while the kids play!

Wan Chai Promenade Playground, Wan Chai

The Wan Chai Promenade starts near Tamar Park in Admiralty and has children’s play areas with colourful tunnels, decorative lights, swings, slides and more. For some extra family fun, there are two-seater and four-seater ducky pedal boats, though you’ll have to book online in advance.

King’s Road Playground, North Point

This outdoor playground is a nice one to stop by if you happen to be in North Point. While it doesn’t have a lot of play equipment, the kids will still love to run around its colourful safety mats and enjoy the slide, trampoline and swings.

Hong Kong Park, Central

With its central location, six-level outdoor kids’ play areas, fascinating Museum of Teaware and conservation corner (with rare dragonflies and wild squirrels), what’s not to love about Hong Kong Park? It has a fascinating aviary with free guided bird-watching walks every Wednesday morning.

Mount Austin Playground, The Peak

If the spectacular view, vintage tram ride, yummy food and stunning Sky Terrace up at Victoria Peak aren’t enough to keep the little ones amused, then the Mount Austin Playground is bound to. With swings, slides, tunnels and bars, this classic play area is also one of the greener areas in Hong Kong where you can easily set up a picnic and enjoy a nice lunch with the kids.

Belcher’s Bay Park and Promenade, Kennedy Town

Close to the fabulous Kennedy Town swimming pool, this park has a children’s playground, a grassy area, a fitness arena and a jogging path. If you’re in the area, head across Shing Sai Road to the Belcher Bay promenade where children’s play areas are often set up complete with slides, swings, monkey bars as well as shaded picnic tables.

Dino Park At New Town Plaza

Whether your kiddo lovers dinosaurs or simply enjoys running around on a playground, they’re sure to have loads of fun at New Town Plaza’s massive (35,000 square feet) outdoor dino-themed playground. There are climbing facilities, monkey ropes and slides — what more could we ask for?

Fung Cheung Road Garden, Yuen Long

Created by a Hong Kong-based arts social enterprise, the seating at this outdoor playground was made using upcycled disposed timber. “Fung Cheung” translates to “Soaring Pheonix” in English, so you’ll find lots of bird-themed features here including a nest swing, play tower, climbing facilities, playhouse and more.

Tuen Mun Park, Tuen Mun

There’s more than enough to keep the kids engaged and happy at Tuen Mun Park in the New Territories. We love that it has inclusive play facilities for children of different ages and abilities. This barrier-free play space incorporates natural elements – water and sand – in its design. It also has a reptile house for budding herpetologists, a model boat pool, a conservation corner and much more!

Hung Leng Children’s Playground, Fanling

Hung Leng Children’s Playground takes inspiration from the history of its location as a farming village, adopting the “Play In Farmland” theme in its design. There are tunnels, monkey bars and net swings for the young ones and fitness equipment suitable for all ages.

Metroplaza Fun Park, Kwai Chung

Can’t figure out a way to make veggies fun for kids? A trip to Fun Park at Metroplaza might do the trick! This children’s outdoor playground has play facilities in the shape of colourful giant vegetables. There’s a 3.5-metre tall turbo tube slide, adult-toddler swings and an outdoor garden filled with seasonal flowers.

Tai Po Waterfront Park, Tai Po

At 22 hectares, Tai Po Waterfront Park is one of the biggest parks in the city. There are playgrounds, a gateball court, a bowling green and a large model boating lake. Kids will love the creepy crawlies at the Insect House, but the best part of the park may be the 1.2km long promenade, which takes advantage of the lovely setting and provides a nice level space for cycling or enjoying a relaxing stroll.

Kwong Fuk Park, Tai Po

If you’re in Tai Po, you could also check out the slightly lesser-known Kwong Fuk Park. It has a colourful playground that includes climbing facilities, play panels, slides and rocking chairs that your kiddo will love.

Po Hong Park, Tseung Kwan O

Possibly the biggest collection of playground equipment in Hong Kong, Po Hong Park guarantees hours of fun and entertainment. There are eight children’s play areas, including smaller equipment for toddlers, more challenging climbing structures for older kids, a soccer court, a basketball and volleyball court, and a roller skating rink.

The Best Beach Playgrounds In Hong Kong

When you’re spending a day at the beach (don’t forget your swimming cossie and sunscreen!), the sprawling sands are usually enough to keep the children occupied. Of course, having a playground close at hand means you could stretch your day out at the seaside that little bit further! A number of our favourite Hong Kong Island and New Territories beaches have small outdoor playgrounds for kids.

Pet-Friendly Parks In Hong Kong

If you have been struggling to find places to take your fur baby, some of the parks listed above are known to be dog-friendly and you can also find a complete list of pet-friendly parks and gardens here. Within the city, these spots are often quite small but serve the purpose if you want to have your kids throw a ball for your playful pups. Other places we love include the West Kowloon Waterfront Park, Penfold Park, Discovery Bay and Stanley Plaza, where there are enough activities and more than enough space for the whole family to enjoy.
