With our picks this month, you’ll find yourself already ticking off a few items on that new year’s resolution, whether it be picking up a new skill or spending more time with the kids. Looking for some visual inspiration? Check out Breakthrough 2020, an art exhibition featuring visually stunning works that seek to breakthrough last year’s hardships for a better new year. Spanish cartoonist and illustrator Joan Cornellà is also back for another inspiring and fun contemporary art showcase. If you’re more into taking pictures and cute figures, head over to BT21 MEETS Citywalk LOVE in Winter Town to take a snap with the little ones and a 5-metre giant robot. For those looking for some retail therapy, the Treasure Island Winter Weekend Market offers unique goodies from local talents and will keep you and the kids busy for the afternoon. Down for some unwinding and pampering? Check out K11 MUSEA’s parent-child body care workshop for a personalised body wash for the family.

2020 has been wild and unpredictable, to say the least. After a year of face masks and social distancing, it is finally time to welcome a bright new year. This January, join seven highly respected artists as they look back at 2020, reinvent their works and welcome what is to come in 2021. Featuring works created during the pandemic, the exhibition is all about showcasing the fragility but also the resilience of humans during times of challenge. Apart from art appreciation, this exhibition is also great for starting reflective and goal-setting conversations with the little ones for 2021.

Here’s one for our mini artists! Featuring life-size panels and sculptures, Joan Cornellà is back and ready to host his biggest exhibition ever in Hong Kong. With simplistic yet striking visuals, Cornellà’s works are known to be visually cheerful but conceptually satirical. The little ones will greatly enjoy the colour palette and cute images, while teens and mamas will find the exhibition to be as stimulating, entertaining and humorous. Although it might be difficult to squeeze into that waitlist, you can definitely check out the virtual gallery for free!

Perfect for mamas who don’t have anything specific in mind and little ones who are into Korean pop music, Citywalk’s latest event offers adorable plushies, giant robots, and other fun surprises from the BT21 collection! If you’re not too familiar with the collection, BT21 is a LINE FRIENDS collection in collaboration with BTS, an internationally well-known Korean-pop boy band. Although some of the interactive events are now closed due to government regulations, you can still check out the outdoor decorations. Specifically, be sure to snap a picture with the kids at the 5-metre giant guardian robot VAN. General entry is free, but entry to some other events may only be redeemed through the mall’s membership programme, so don’t forget to check the event details and availability before heading out!
