Help give your children the start they deserve in life.
If you’re on the lookout for an EYFS pre-school for your youngster, it’s worth checking out Malvern College Pre-School, which is about to open a brand new campus in Sai Ying Pun (to run alongside its existing offering in Kowloon). The school places a high value on the importance of progressive learning, to help set your children up for future success. That’s why its new Island West campus will offer the same structured, hands-on programme that its sister offering in Coronation Circle is famous for.
Malvern College teaches the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) through play-based learning (which is driven as much by the children as the teachers), enabling your little ones to be as creative as they like. There is a strong emphasis on immersive bilingualism, so the pupils receive lessons from its highly qualified native English-speaking teachers as well as Mandarin teachers (who help to support every individual at their own pace of growth). Engaging songs and nursery rhymes are used to really help link words with actions.
Malvern College Pre-School is an advocate of the Reggio Emilia approach, which views the environment as the third teacher. So one of the things that is really unique to Malvern College’s way of learning is its Forest-Beach School Programme. The school uses two sites in Sai Kung where the children go once every two weeks. This allows its certified Forest School leader to offer exciting opportunities in a non-conventional kindergarten space. Activities vary from building boats and hunting for treasure, to basic sawing and hammering, and even helping to light a campfire.
Of course, no child’s 21st century education would be complete without promoting technology as a tool for learning. That’s why Malvern College uses Bee-Bots (which are a digital robotics tool) to help its pupils pick up basic coding skills from an early age. The school is also in the process of developing its own interactive AI robot to support learning. But don’t worry, Malvern College is very careful not to overstimulate children with digital devices!
The EYFS curriculum is holistically-balanced, which is why Malvern College also strives to promote self-awareness about the body. It does this by offering regular yoga and balance lessons, which helps to introduce its pre-schoolers to the concept of lifetime wellness.
So if all this appeals, and you want to be among the first to see the Malvern College Pre-School’s brand new Island West campus in Sai Ying Pun, make sure you sign up for one of its early-look tours.
