Matching Mama and Daughter Fashion: Tutu Love

Family LifePost Category - Family LifeFamily Life

There are many types of love, including that of which exists between husband and wife, and parents and their children. Ivory tulle to me represents the simplest and purest form of love. I believe this is one of the reasons why ivory tulle is the colour of choice when it comes to wedding gowns, which is exactly what I wore three years ago when I walked down the aisle.

Baby M was born couple years later. It’s amazing how something so small and precious could teach me what unconditional love means. I’m sure those who have kids will understand what I mean.

I’ve always wanted photos of Baby M in a tutu, given tutu-wearing babies are super adorable! Those who follow my blog will know our outfits often match, and this was no exception, so I was excited to be donning a tutu for this shoot. Thanks to Sex In The City, tulle skirts have made their way into mainstream fashion, and have recently been spotted on runways.

There are a few ways to style a tulle skirt depending on the look and feel you are going for.

1. Soft & Feminine
- wear a neutral coloured sweater with a pair of nude pumps. Accessorize with a pair of pearl earrings or gem necklace.

2. Casual & Edgy
- wear a cropped tee with a pair of Converse for a casual vibe. Throw on a utility or leather jacket as well as a few edgy accessories to finish the outfit.

3. Casual & Cute – a button-down shirt in denim, or a t-shirt can play down the ballerina vibe and create a more casual look. Compliment the outfit with some ballet flats or strappy heels. Throw on a few colourful accessories to complete the look.

4. Classy & Feminine
- compliment the skirt with a corset and team them with a few bling-blings. Complete the look with a pair of crystal strappy heels. Throw on a fur jacket if you feel a bit chilly.

The tutu on Baby M is actually a dress. You can pair it with a denim jacket or shirt for a more casual look, or wear it as a dress with a pearl necklace and a pair of Mary Janes for a party look. If the weather is cold, simply add a cardigan, just as what we have done here.
