With the summer holidays on the horizon, it’s time to think about how to keep your little ones entertained on their time off! For those staying in the ‘Kong, not to fret – summer camps here run aplenty. From sports camps to language immersion to creativity programmes and more, kids have unbounded ways to stay in ‘learning mode’ without compromising a moment of fun. We’ve rounded up a few of our favourites in our Ultimate Guide to Summer Camps 2015 below!

Treasure Island Surf Camp
Make your way over to Lantau Island, where Treasure Island Surf Camp is offering a variety of daily ocean activities for your little adventure-seeker. Aspiring wave riders will learn to navigate the surf and learn ocean safety at these fun-filled summer camps – all while getting wet and wild with their new camp buddies! Kids aged 5-9 years old can get a comprehensive introduction at Grommets Beginner Surf courses, which features surf lessons, arts & crafts, ocean education, water safety and beach games. Surfers Intermediate is for your adolescent aged 9-15 years old with a keen interest in developing surf and SUP skills. For kids & teens aged 9-18 years old with a thirst for the great outdoors, Adventure Camp will fill up their summer with kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, surfing, and a night of camping in tents on Pui O beach! Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club
For an introduction to sailing this summer, look no further than the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, which provides comprehensive courses for kids aged 6-18 years old. Courses last for 5 days and are available from Monday, 22 June through end of August, so you can choose flexible dates based on your schedule. Your child will learn basic sailing skills, how to control a boat, how to tack and gybe and boat setup and racing. For the older kids, classes include more advanced rigging and boat handling skills, as well as learning how to handle moderate wind conditions. All students will have a chance to get their hands wet, while enjoying being out on the open sea!

Camp Boom Shaka-laka
Get your kids involved in Camp Boom Shaka-laka’s outdoor fun! They’ll get to experience the best of Hong Kong: museum visits, sports days, a farm tour, a nature tour, a trip to the beach, a visit to an outlying island and more. Kids will be split into age groups for different activities. It all ends with a visit to Disneyland and Ocean Park… sounds like fun!

When: Camp Boom Shaka-laka runs week-long camps for a total of 6 weeks, starting on Monday, 13 July and ending on Friday, 21 August.

Aberdeen Summer Youth Sailing Programme
Sail off into the unknown and feel the summer sea breeze with Aberdeen’s Summer Youth Sailing Programme. This HK institution has been teaching the art of sailing since 1967, and your kids are sure to be in safe hands with their expert team of sailing professionals. They offer several summer schemes starting from Monday, 29 June for sailors aged 7-18 years old. Whether your kid is a novice or experienced sailor, programmes are available for all ages and levels.

This is one for the whole family! Travel to Niseko, a beautiful part of Japan for a week of outdoor adventures. It’s the perfect getaway from the busy life of Hong Kong and gets kids involved in nature.

Kickstart Education
Kick off your summer holiday with five fun-filled days at Kickstart Education, where you’ll travel the African continent and assume the roles of a tiny caterpillar or even a mighty rhino! This drama camp is all about developing kids’ creativity and confidence! Drama classes will be led by the team from Helen O’Grady Drama Academy Hong Kong. This year, the play is based on a traditional African tale, “A Caterpillar’s Voice”. The big question among the elephants, rhinos and leopards is: Who will be king of the animals? Activities include ad-libbing, speech drills, music and movement, snippets, prop/costume making and performance play. The summer camp is sure to become the highlight of your child’s holiday! BabySteps
Enjoy an innovative, therapeutic approach to play at BabySteps, which is holding a series of summer camps through August that touch on all areas of creative arts. Led by certified play and music therapists, summer camps at BabySteps include “Music and Cartoons”, “Show and Tell”, “Music and Movement”, “The First Choir” and many more. Insight Summer Programme for Teens
This one is definitely a bit different and targeted at mamas with older kids interested in interior design. Hone your kids career path with Insight’s summer programme for teens aged 16-18. Little Picasso

LEGO Summer Workshop 2015
Is your child a fan of LEGOs? If so, you won’t want to miss the official LEGO Summer Workshop 2015, where children will be encouraged to build structures and exercise their creativity – all with their favourite LEGO toys! The workshop is based on the LEGO EDUCATION Afterschool Program (LEAS) and is led by a group of certificated LEAS Teachers. Faust Summer Holiday Programme 2015
Get creative on stage at Faust, which has been hosting their popular summer program for over 15 years. The Summer Theatre (for ages 3 to 14) lets kids explore different aspects of the performing world and develop skills such as improvisation, devising, clarity of expression, movement and script work. Rumple and Friends Silly Summer Circus
Fun and laughter is what your little ones will be looking forward to at Rumple and Friends’ circus camp. Harry Wright International
It’s never too soon to learn how to swim! Jump in to the water with Harry Wright International, Hong Kong’s premier swim school since 1975. Harry Wright’s proven curriculum of basic swimming training for tots and kids is designed to give students of all ages an introduction to the benefits of swimming, along with the opportunity to pursue competitive swimming in the future if they choose. In an exclusive programme devised by London Gifted and Talented, Growhouse is providing courses for children aged 5-13 to nurture their giftedness and creativity through books and films. A Book Explorers summer reading course takes your budding bookworm on a literary adventure through magical lands and alternate universes, featuring the latest book titles. The more intensive Core Programmes challenge and develop critical thinking skills, with an emphasis on classic and mainstream fiction, nonfiction and film texts. Safari Kids’ Summer Adventure

British Council have got summer courses for all ages! Young kids will enjoy ‘Stay and Play’ where they’ll learn through themes such as ‘A Teddy Bear’s Picnic” and “Sea Creatures”. Primary school-aged kiddos can brush up on their phonics and language skills with themes including Matilda, Peter Pan and more. Join Pro-Active Learning at their renowned SuperCamp this summer, celebrating 23 years in Hong Kong. Founded originally in the U.S., this programme helps to enhance leadership, communication and social skills for developing kids while giving them a boost of self-confidence and motivation in life. Kids will engage in an 8-10 day programme with activities focusing on both the academic and the social side, under the guidance of renowned instructors from the U.S. Focused curriculum includes Quantum Study Strategies, Reading, Writing, Mind Mapping, Creative Thinking, Problem-solving, Motivation and Goal-Setting.
