School Mission: Hong Kong Academy is a dynamic learning community that provides a rigorous international education characterised by mutual benefit and support. HKA learner develop an evolving understanding of our changing world, leading them to engage in responsible action motivated by their interests , strengths and ongoing reflection. The mission statement serves as a guidepost and foundation for all of the HKA’s efforts to provide exceptional educational opportunities for all learners. It is demonstrated every day in the school through the many facets of learning that take place and resonates throughout the school community. Approximately 15% of the student body receives some form of learner support.

HKA believes that we are all learners and that we learn best in a diverse community that is grounded in mutual respect. Learning with friends who come from different parts of the world and different cultures develops open-mindedness and nurtures the development of thoughtful global citizens.

Curriculum

HKA is an IBO World School offering the IB Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. The school’s globally-sourced curriculum draws from researched-based, best practice and features an inquiry-based, concept-driven foundation that provides a well-rounded, learner-directed programme. Social-emotional development is also highly valued and supported with student's receiving the necessary support and encouragement to pursue their individual pathways to excellence. 
In 2017, HKA joined the Global Citizen Diploma (GCD) consortium, https://globalcitizendiploma.org. The GCD stresses meaningful global engagement and provides multiple ways for students to demonstrate their commitment to being a global citizen. All HKA students in Grades 9-12 participate in the GCD, with the Class of 2019 being the first cohort to fully participate in the programme over the course of four years.
