Swing Into Silk at Sidewalk: JD Camicetta Launch

Over high tea and champagne, we were lucky enough to be treated with the launch of a new fashion label, JD Camicetta at Sidewalk in Gough Street on Tuesday.

JD Camicetta’s designers, Jane Moffat and Dianne Seerden are two HK women known for their sense of style and dedication to fashion.  Coming from opposite sides of the globe, their collection combines Jane’s relaxed Aussie vibe with Dianne’s European elegance. Now, with the launch of their new Fall/ Winter collection of dresses and shirts, we are privileged to be able to share some of their design flair.

Based on the concept of simplicity and elegance, Jane and Dianne make it easy for us, designing a range of dresses suitable for not only for Hong Kong’s hot and humid climate,  but, when layered are as suitable for the cooler months.

These are outfits that can take you from the pool to cocktails to dinner, as well as become travel mainstays.  With the addition of belts, necklaces and scarves, they are extremely versatile and can be dressed up or down.

The range of dresses, shirts and cover-ups are made out of luxurious silks and crisp cottons and linens, sourced from fabric ateliers in Italy and beyond.

For winter, the palette ranges from rich purples and plums to soft beiges and greys, with pops of oranges, reds and yellows.  Patterns and colours dominate the designs, though simple but elegant detailing is characteristic. Each dress is produced in limited quantities so you can be sure that you have a true original.

A standout in the collection is the classic Fiona dress in a delicate cotton lace .   As we have seen from the upcoming Miu Miu SS collection for 2012, cotton lace is completely on trend.  The shape of the Fiona seems to suit every one- this is sure to be one of JD Camicetta’s classics.  The Fiona also comes in two lengths, so it can be worn with a belt or as a tailored shift. I can see it on me with a pair of black stilettos and a statement necklace but it would look equally as nice with a simple jeweled sandal.

In the cooler months, the dresses can be layered over a turtleneck and tights and would look fabulous with a tailored leather jacket, bringing vibrancy to a more subdued winter palette.
