While Hong Kong is great for dining out, let’s face it: some days you just want to curl up at home with your hubby and the kiddos in your pjs and put on a movie while digging into some takeout. Foodpanda, the world’s largest online food ordering marketplace, hit Hong Kong this summer and with their vast selection of restaurants including some of our favourites like MANA!, Bao Wow, K-Roll and Sugo Sushi, we’re betting many of you already have them bookmarked on your browser.

The zippy delivery service is celebrating Gourmet Fest this month with up to 25% off original prices, and special set lunches and dinners delivered straight to your door with one click of a button. We recently tried out one of their gourmet dinners for two and were impressed by the quick service and delivery – easy as 1, 2, 3! Scroll down for your chance to win a $600 voucher toward your own gourmet feast!

Foodpanda offers Hong Kong’ers a quick and easy solution to weeknight dinners to avoid the supermarket crowds – simply order online and have your favourite foods delivered to your door within the hour at no extra delivery charge! We tried out one of their current Gourmet Fest deals, which runs until 30 September and includes discounted menus on a handful of restaurants around town, including Trattoria Doppio Zero, Ista, Ricos, La Terra, Pizzeria Italia and Sichuan House. In the mood for Indian (always a good choice for takeout!), we picked Ista, following rave reviews from our contributor Palka’s recent date night out.

The first step is to enter your location in the search bar, which then automatically filters the restaurants that deliver to your area. Menus are clearly laid out with prices, and your bill gets totaled on the right-hand side as you choose each item. For participating restaurants, simply click the Gourmet Fest button at the top and choose your set menu. Some restaurants don’t open for delivery until 6pm or later, but you’re able to order beforehand and designate the time you want your food delivered, which is great if you’re ordering from work and want dinner on your doorstep as soon as you arrive home! I was especially impressed with the live chat function, with someone on hand 24/7 to answer any questions or issues that may pop up. You can pay by either cash on delivery or credit card; we paid by credit card and received a convenient text message immediately after stating the delivery time.

Right on cue, our delivery arrived at 7pm and we had a fantastic Indian feast to dig into – bring on the curries and biryanis! The only disappointment was that the utensils were missing, but we’ll chalk that up to them still working out all their kinks. (Plus, it was Indian cuisine so we had no problem sopping up all the delicious sauces with the warm naan and tandoori!) I loved being able to enjoy delicious, restaurant-quality food without having to step foot outdoors. The best part is that the bill came out to the same amount it would have had I had to make the trip to the restaurant, wait in line for a table, etc. For those who are just too exhausted to leave the comfort of home at the end of the day or attempt to cook in Hong Kong’s tiny kitchen spaces, Foodpanda is definitely your best solution to quick and easy home food delivery!
