What could be more fun than stepping into the story you’ve just read and meeting the characters? Here’s the chance to step into the world of PAPINEE children stories this Holiday Season. Swing by the Mandarin Oriental lobby to visit the glorious Eiffel Tower, Moulin Rouge, Big Ben and London Eye and snap up photos to your heart’s content, or visit the full-fledged PAPINEE World at Pearl Lam Galleries Soho 189 just a little further west. Are the kiddos ready for a round-the-world tour? Little adventurers, grab your passports and come along!
The round-the-world tour at the gallery space in Sai Ying Pun welcomes children to meet Owl King Strix in London, Deer President Odo in New York, Chancellor Podo the Turtle in the Brazilian Amazon and more. The tour would be a fun multi-sensory adventure for children who are new to amusement park-type experiences. The project intends to ignite the imagination of children, and to offer those who have yet to travel the world, a taster.
The idea came from an ingenious mom who wished to bring the world to her young boy. She built the Pyramids of Giza, King Arthur’s Round Table, Mount Fuji among others for the stories she told from these places – all in their living room! Many years later, the young boy grown-up, Dev Suj, founded PAPINEE, dedicated to his mother who continued to read at orphanages long after he had grown up and storytellers. The children’s storytelling social enterprise wishes to gift children through the magic of storytelling, and to make every child feel loved, just like how the young boy’s mother referred to each child as her “Papinee.”
The half-hour tour ends with a small ‘luggage’ from PAPINEE, an Inspire Kit that includes a PAPINEE storybook so the kiddos can savour the story at home. The Inspire Kits gifted are made possible thanks to every Story Telling Kit sold, PAPINEE donating an Inspire Kit to a child in need. Look no further for a lovely ‘gift that gifts twice’ this Holiday Season.
The collaboration is part of the Pearl Lam Galleries’ continuous initiative to engage with the community through art and creativity. “As a gallery, we believe that art should be accessible to people of all ages, demographic, and social groups. as it provides a lens for us to better understand the world in which we live. We hope our art installation Patine World will inspire curiosity, provoke creativity, celebrate diversity, and stimulate the imagination of children from all corners of Hong Kong.” says gallerist Pearl Lam.
