Thinking about your Christmas shopping? It’s time to stock up on Christmas gifts, fill your winter boots with mulled wine (parents only, of course!) and explore some of the cities’ best winter fairs and markets. From Discovery Bay all the way over to the Stanley Christmas Market and everything in-between, get into the festive spirit and check out these seasonal holiday fairs and top Christmas markets in Hong Kong.

If you’re a slow planner and a late shopper, don’t fret. To help get you into the holiday spirit early, we’ve put together a list of upcoming Christmas markets, holiday fairs, festivals and bazaars in the 852. Whether you’re seeking Christmas comfort food, looking to spread some cheer, or hunting for a quirky gift, this guide has the best happenings around town to help you get your Christmas presents done in no time (and perhaps snag a little bargain for yourself too!). The Murray Christmas Market – Festive food, Santa’s Grotto, Christmas shopping

For four days only, from the Monday, 20 to Wednesday 23 December 2021, head over to The Murray Hong Kong for a festive delight. The Cotton Tree Terrace will host the Murray Christmas Market from 4pm to 9pm each day. Explore Santa’s Grotto on the second floor open from 9am to 5pm (there will be an in-house Santa from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.). They’ll be plenty of Christmas activities including a kids play room, bouncy castle, a slime room, kids yoga, plus a mulled wine station for parents.

Christmas Markets 2019

Discovery Bay Christmas Market – Local arts and crafts market in Hong Kong

Hop on a ferry and head to the Discovery Bay’s traditional Sunday Market that will become a Christmas Market on four different Sunday’s leading up to Christmas. Well known for its arts and crafts stalls, you’re sure to find something for yourself, or that special someone (kids or big kids). When the post-shopping hunger hits, enjoy dinner at one of the designated restos at the D’Deck and you’ll be treated to a free ferry ride back to the island.

AWA Charity Bazaar – Christmas fair for charity in Hong Kong

The not-for-profit, volunteer- run, AWA Charity Bazaar is back for another season! On Thursday, 11 November, PMQ will host a variety of Hong Kong-specific shops and businesses. With 50-plus vendors, there will be plenty of options perfect for anyone and everyone on your gift list. To spread the holiday cheer, proceeds will be contributed to education scholarships and funding for local students and also local Hong Kong charities for the needy. There’s nothing better than shopping for a good cause!

St. John’s Cathedral – Michaelmas Christmas Fair And Second-Hand Book Sale

Get set for the festivities this year and shop a range of unique handicrafts and home produce. You’ll find a white elephant stand and raffle prise draws. Plus, you can support the Michaelmas Fair face mask charity sale. Look out for the second-hand book sale on the last day of the event as well. The best bit? You’ll be spreading love along the way by supporting a charitable cause as all proceeds go towards various different Hong Kong charities who will have stalls at St. John’s annual Christmas market.

Glam and Glitters (by Shopping Hong Kong) Christmas Fair – Kids toys, kids clothing, jewellery, health and beauty vendors

With a variety of designer brands to choose from, this two-day event is an artsy pre-Christmas fair for mums to relax and indulge in a light retail therapy session. This years fair will have vintage and luxury jewellery, kids toys and children’s fashion, health and beauty products (with a twist apparently!), eco friendly household goodies, unique chocolates and more.

Lee Garden Charitable Christmas Weekend Market – Special pet-themed weekend market

Lee Garden have partnered with local charity First Initiative Foundation for a special pet-themed weekend market. you really will get pressies sorted for all members of the family – fur babies included – this year!

Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong – Christmas Market (and chance to meet Santa!)

The Island Shangri-La is pulling out all out all the stops this Christmas. Decorations will be going up in the hotel lobby on Friday, 19 November, with the lighting of the tree at 5:30pm on 25, November – officially starting the Christmas countdown! There’ll also be Christmas market stalls selling beautiful keepsakes (5 to 7pm Monday to Thursday; 4 to 7pm Friday to Sunday). There’s even a chance to meet Santa!

Other Hong Kong Christmas Markets, Christmas Fairs And Christmas Bazaars To Look Out For

  • Sai Kung December Market Bazaar, Saturday, 4 to Sunday 5, December 2021, and Saturday 18 to Sunday, 19 December 2021; Man Yee Wan Recreation Centre 11am to 8pm.
  • Christmas Market at the Landmark Atrium – Last year saw a wonderful festive displays (perfect for Instagram poses) and plenty of stalls that looked like they stepped out of a winter wonderland! Keep a look out for any happenings that might take place this year.
  • Dansk Sømandskirke Hong Kong Scandinavian Christmas Bazaar – This is pencilled into the church’s events calendar for Saturday, 20 November 2021, but there’s no further information yet. Previous Christmas Bazaar’s have included traditional festive Swedish treats, decorations and ornaments, live music and designer brands to shop. Keep a look out on the Facebook page for more info. 
  • City Kids Christmas Fair – Previous years have included bake sales, drinks, crafts, and all kinds of other goodies, plus a visit from the main-man in the red suit as well! Keep a look out on the Facebook page or website just in case.
