Sign up for a weekend of cleaning up plastic waste from Hong Kong’s Ma Shi Chau UNESCO heritage beach site in Tai Po. Around 50 to 100 volunteers participate in Beyond Plastic’s bi-monthly beach clean-ups as the organisation hopes to inspire people to change their plastic consumption patterns and lifestyles. It coordinates with the FEHD and Clean Shorelines Department in Hong Kong to organise these activities and also advocates for the local government to take more serious actions towards the reduction of plastic pollution on Hong Kong’s shorelines. To date, it has collected a shocking 47,000 kg of plastic and packaging waste in beaches around Hong Kong. Get in touch with the team and join the Facebook group to be part of future events and programmes.
