Sassy Scoop: Walk & Run for the Adventist Pediatric Heart Fund!

Feel like having fun with the family while supporting a local charity? Well, now you can at the 2014 Walk & Run for the Heart charity race. Our friends at Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation are organising the amazing race on Sunday, 30 November at 8.30am and it’s sure to be a blast! If you’ve been feeling sluggish lately, this is the perfect reason to get inspired and energised for a great cause. Time to strap on your running shoes, mama!

There are numerous children in Hong Kong who suffer from congenital heart disease, and this is one fantastic way to support them, with all proceeds raised by the event going toward the Adventist Pediatric Heart Fund. Many of these kids do not have the opportunity to receive treatment or surgery, and they need as much help as possible to live a happy and healthy childhood. Organised by HKAHF in conjunction with Green Monday, HKAHF Walk & Run for the Heart aims to raise support and awareness for these children in need and give them the greatest chance for survival.

The event will be held at the beautiful Cyberport Waterfront Park, and includes both “Walk” and “Run” options, so if you’re not a runner, you can still show your support and get some fresh air while you’re at it! To amp up the fun factor, awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd champions and runner-ups in the Run division, as well as a Top Fundraising Award and Sponsorship Award in the Walk division. If your kids love competing, this is a great event to engage their interests as they learn about giving back to the community; they can even sign up to be a volunteer if they wish!

This fun-filled charity event will include carnival games, face painting, balloon twisting and arts & crafts provided by Sunkids. There will also be song and dance performances and a magic show! Need to fuel up after the run? Munch on food and beverage goodies from Sote, Sakura Cupcakes, Punch Detox and Cali-Mex, and pick up a fun tee or House of Kamal‘s Gift of Hope Bracelet, which will be sold onsite. There will also be a book stall manned by local celebrities and an Interactive Hope Activity sponsored by Charitable Choice, where families can decorate a massive wall with pens and stickers to show their support!
