The temperature is climbing and we couldn’t be more excited to see blue skies! This month has tons of outdoors events, from weekend bazaars to sports days, beach parties and sailing trials. Not a fan of the heat? You can always head to a market (including Sassy Mama’s Spring Marketplace!), or an open day!

HHYC Sailing Centre Open Day 2019

Head to Sai Kung for Hebe Haven Yacht Club‘s Sailing Centre Open Day, which promises fun for the whole family! With everything from free sailing trials and demonstrations to kayaking and stand up paddle boarding, there’s bound to be something for everyone. There’ll also be a car boot sale, a bouncy castle, face painting and vendors – make sure to bring plenty of cash and to top up your Octopus card in advance.

When: Saturday, 4 May, 10am to 5pm

the Hive’s Urban Farm & Feast Market

We always love learning more about where our food comes from and the Hive is giving you and your family a chance to meet the farmers, local businesses, organisations and providers that know it all. Head to its Urban Farm & Feast Market for a day of homegrown organic produce, education, and workshops.

When: Saturday, 4 May, 11am to 4pm

Le French May Paws & Friends Weekend Bazaar

Established in 1993, Le French May is one of the largest cultural events in Asia with more than 150 programmes presented across two months! Head to the Central Harbourfront for its “Paws & Friends Weekend Bazaar”, which consists of two days of shopping, live music, performances, and culinary delights all for a good cause! Bring your four-legged and two-legged family and friends. Proceeds will go towards animals (and people!) in need.

When: Saturday, 4 May, 12pm to 10:30pm and Sunday, 5 May, 11:30am to 9pm

WISE Start With Sports: Mothers And Daughters Sports Day

With Mother’s Day coming up this month, it’s a great excuse to spend some quality time with your child. Women In Sports Empowered Hong Kong (WISE) uses sports as a tool for women’s empowerment, and to dispel gender stereotypes, helping children grow life and leadership skills! This special Mother-Daughter sports day is hosted at the Indian Recreation Club and co-organised with Hong Kong Cricket to provide some expert coaching on the day.

Peel Street Poetry’s “An Evening With The Bard!”

BLUE CRUSH: a sustainable beach party

Join some of the city’s best eco-conscious brands at Shek O for a day of sun, sea, sustainability, and some shopping! Learn about plastic pollution, browse market stalls and enjoy music courtesy of top DJs playing on a solar-powered sound system. Special guests from the Ocean Recovery Alliance will be out and about during the day, explaining how to help fight the plastic plague affecting waterways and shorelines around the world. A percentage of the day’s sales and all donations will go directly to the Alliance to help fund its programmes in Asia and abroad. Remember to only bring recyclable bottles.
