How to Plan a Children’s Birthday Party – Princess Style

Parties & PlayPost Category - Parties & PlayParties & Play - Post Category - PartiesParties

Inspiration for your little girl’s beautiful birthday bash!

It’s a known fact that children absolutely love their birthdays! It’s a time for celebrating with family and friends, playing games and eating an unnecessary amount of cake. Sweet Soirées have been organising boutique parties in Hong Kong for over three years and we know it takes a lot of planning to make sure parties go off without a hitch. Children’s parties in particular have so many different aspects that all need to come together to make a great party. There’s the venue, decorations, games, entertainment, music, food, drinks, party ware, cake and goodie bags not to mention any extras such as a photographer, face painter, cotton candy machine and the list goes on! Having recently finished planning a series of all encompassing party packages, we are happy to guide you through the usual party planning woes by writing about our favourite party themes and what they should include to make sure your little ones have the perfect party!

This month we’ll start with one of the most popular party themes – The Princess Party. We will share with you some of our ideas and tips to make sure your princess party is a magical day to remember. Here are the key points to include.

Children's Parties - Princess 1

Venue

First, choose where you’re going to have your party. You could have it at home or at a rented venue, if you’re not the biggest fan of cleaning up after. Make sure it has enough space for all your guests and games, and if possible, will look good with beautiful princess decorations.

Decorations

Decide on what princess decorations you’re going to get to turn your venue into a proper royal palace. We opted for everything pink and pretty – lanterns, garlands, balloons, flowers, pretty party ware and a sprinkling of confetti. We like it when all our pinks match, but sometimes this can be tricky so there is no harm in mixing it up.

Activity & Games

Plan some activities and games to get the little princesses into the party spirit. Here are some of our favourites: Princess dress up with tutus and tiaras, make your own tiara or jewellery, find Cinderella’s missing slipper or pin the lips on the frog! You can also check out the disney princess party playlist on Spotify for a fun singalong – I’m not going to lie, I do listen to it when I’m driving.

Catering

Now to prepare for the royal banquet! Anything pink is ideal, so you can always have a look in your local supermarket for any pink sweets, cookies or fruit. We like to include party favourites such as mini burgers, mini pizzas and sausage rolls and mix them in with some themed treats like princess cookies and pretty fruit tarts. Partner your menu with pink lemonade and you have a feast fit for a princess.

Cake

No princess party is complete without a tiara cake! You can also try a castle cake or a princess doll cake. If you want the real brownie points – add ice cream!
