The International Children’s & Youth Film Carnival is back just in time for the holidays!

Are you looking for a reliable, all-weather, cultural and, above all, fun-filled activity for your kids this summer? Take them along to the International Children’s & Youth Film Carnival (ICYFC) presented by the Film Programmes Office of the LCSD for a day at the cinema with a difference.

This popular annual event features a programme of 41 films screening at the Hong Kong Film Archive, Hong Kong City Hall, North District Town Hall, the Hong Kong Science Museum and the Hong Kong Space Museum. There are animations, shorts and feature films from across the globe to check out, so we’re sure there’ll be more than one visit for your family on the cards.

detective agency film

There’s something for kids of all ages. Take your teens and tweens to see TKKG – Detective Agency. It’s a fun adventure about teamwork and unlikely friendships (in German with Chinese and English subtitles).

For younger kids there is a great range of animations and feature films. Turu, the Wacky Hen and Raggie are animations suitable for kids over 3 years old (playing with live Cantonese dubbing and English subtitles). They’ll also love Boxi and the Lost Treasure, an animation with no dialogue that will inspire their little imaginations.

bigfoot family

The action doesn’t stop there! For fun and adventure (and maybe a touch of magic) that the whole family will love, schedule a screening of Bigfoot Family, Jim Button and the Wild 13 or Sheep and Wolves: Pig Deal.

Take a trip down memory lane with this year’s Film Tunnel feature – Walt Disney’s The Aristocats! Join the pampered and beloved cat, Duchess as she fights to save her inheritance from the sinister butler. We’re sure Mum and Dad will love the nostalgia of this one too!

If you’re worried about the language barrier or attention span for subtitled films, you may like to check out the World Animation & Shorts. These compilations feature animated shorts ranging from two to seven minutes long with no dialogue and are suitable for all ages.

That’s just a taste of what is on offer – be sure to check out the full programme for more! No matter what film you choose, a day out at this year’s ICYFC is sure to be a hit with the kids!
