K-Town ladies, time to rejoice. A new addition to the Michelin-recognised Café Siam has come to your part of town, and your tastebuds will thank you for treating yourself to a meal here. Run by Head Chef Phimgoen Somchai and his all-Thai team of culinary experts, Thai food lovers will be treated to an array of impressive newly introduced dishes, as well as some irresistible signature classics.

We sampled several of the appetisers, starting with a Kennedy Town exclusive, Peek Gai Tod (Tom Yum), deep fried single chicken wings (no having to work your way around two bones!) This appetiser was crispy and had just the right amount of spice and flavour. Talk about finger-licking good!

Speaking of exclusives, don’t forget to try some of the Kennedy Town-only drinks. Cool, refreshing and a perfect complement to a meal here, they come in a variety of non-alcoholic options, including Young Coconut (served in a branded coconut shell), or the sublime Butterfly Pea Flower Essence & Lime soda. With spring and summer just around the corner, you will make these your go-to beverage.

Next on our plates was Gai Hor Bai Toey, chicken wrapped in Pandanus leaves. Ladies, I never knew chicken could be so moist and delicious. You could easily make a few of these a meal it was that good. The Siam salad was also tasty, albeit a bit heavy on the dressing, so definitely request dressing to be put on the side or ask them to make it lightly dressed.

For those who enjoy a good spicy soup, definitely try the Tom Yum Goong, which is a prawn shrimp soup with lemongrass and lime leaf. The large prawn was cooked to perfection (very moist and not gummy), and the broth was slightly sweet, tangy and bursting with flavour.

Next we tried a Café Siam favourite: Gong Pad Prik Tai Drum, stir fried giant river shrimp with peppercorn and Thai herbs. Talk about delicious. This dish was so full of the right amount of seasonings, I totally understood why this was considered a signature dish.

Seafood lovers you will absolutely thank me when you order the Pla Krapong Paogrilled sea bass with chili lime sauce (served on the side). This whole fish was flaky, moist, and falling off the bones. Each bite made my tongue do a happy dance.

Vegetarians who favour pad thai will be thrilled with the presentation of this famous dish. Wrapped in an egg “basket” and served with shrimp on top (you can order a vegetarian option as well with mixed vegetables), this popular favourite was a creative and yummy twist to an already delicious meal.

cafe siam - dessert

Even though we stuffed ourselves silly, we simply had to try the dessert Café Siam had to offer! We opted for the the Khao Niew Mamuang, which was fresh mango served on a bed of sticky black and white Thai rice laced with coconut cream. This was equally indulgent and refreshing. The perfect end to a delightful meal.
