Restaurants Giando and Gia: Promotion to Benefit Italy Earthquake Victims in Amatrice

That’s right, mamas, one of Hong Kong’s most acclaimed Italian eateries, Giando, and its sister restaurant, Già Trattoria are joining 600 restaurants across the globe to fundraise for the Italy earthquake response effort in Amatrice, by cooking the town’s signature dish!

The town is amongst the worst hit from the August quake, so you can bet we’re all for supporting these restos do good!

Amatrice is known for its spaghetti all’Amatriciana: a pasta dish with a tomato-based sauce flavoured with guanciale. In response to the disaster, and in solidarity with Italy, Giando and Già Trattoria have put variations of the dish on their menus and pledge to donate 100% of each sale (HK$158), from now until 30 September directly to local charities in Italy.

Founder and chef Gianni Caprioli is even personally traveling to central Italy and meeting with the officials of Amatrice to determine the best organisations to donate to! What a great way for Italians abroad and global citizens to be of service to a country during a devastating time!
