TravelPost Category - TravelTravel - Post Category - Inspiration & TipsInspiration & Tips

With so many great destinations in our backyard, taking a well-deserved break from Hong Kong’s hustle and bustle couldn’t be easier.

When you have children, however, choosing the ideal spot is often determined by how easy it is to reach and the selection of convenient, family-friendly attractions available once you get there.

Flights need to be direct and short: getting kids onto one plane is stressful enough, let alone two, and any journey longer than five hours is out of the question!

Also, to avoid breaking the bank, book a month and a half in advance before you fly to get the best flight deals around Asia.

With that in mind, and with the summer holiday season just around the corner, we have selected our top family-friendly destinations for under $8,000 (based on two adults) and within five hours’ flight time from Hong Kong. Don’t forget that most airlines allow children to fly free under the age of two, just one more excuse for a holiday!

Family-favourite Destinations - Taiwan

Under two hours’ flight time: Taipei

The time it takes to commute to work in some cities is all it takes for Hong Kongers to nip over to Taipei and indulge in an exciting culinary and cultural city adventure.

The average price for a two-night break in Taipei, including flights and accommodation, is just $5,900.

Taipei is home to the Formosa Fun Water Park, a great spot to keep cool and splash around in the summer. The park features one of the longest waterslides in Asia, which can take an exhilarating twenty minutes to reach the bottom!

If you are looking to spend a day indoors, the National Taiwan Science Education Centre is a great place for a fun and educational experience.
