There’s no denying that the health craze is sweeping Hong Kong, and there’s no reason the little ones can’t jump on the bandwagon too! Besides providing plenty of perfect photo opps (just imagine your cute little 4 year old in ‘happy baby’ pose’!), yoga provides the same benefits for kids as it does for us mamas: flexibility, strength, toning and relaxation. Throw healthy cooking classes into the mix, and we’re sold!
Little Yogis is a new studio in Hong Kong that focuses on promoting healthy habits from a young age, with both yoga for kids and fun cooking classes. The goal is all about developing a basic foundation for a healthy and active lifestyle from a young age, and each child is encouraged to progress at their own pace in a completely non-competitive and non-judgmental environment.
Yoga classes include Baby Yoga (3-12 months old), Toddler (1-3 years old) and Kid Yoga (3-10 years old). The younger age classes focus on gentle body strokes and rhythmic movement with joint baby/parent relaxation sessions, while the older age courses begin to introduce basic yoga poses and improve strength, flexibility and balance. There’s even a pre-natal session for mamas-to-be who want to jump in on the action, which aims to reduce stress and anxiety while increasing the endurance of muscles needed for childbirth.
Little Yogis knows that eating habits play a huge part in a healthy lifestyle, and that’s why they’ve also incorporated fun cooking sessions into their class offerings! In Little Yogis’ cooking classes, kids learn all about nutritious (and tasty!) eating, and are able to enjoy the fruits of their labour while gaining healthy sustenance for the rest of the day!
