Are you as psyched as we are for Game of Thrones to return next week on Monday, 15 April? While characters like Jon Snow and Tyrion have a special place in our hearts (and even The Hound and Jaime Lannister have had major redemption arcs), one of the things we love most about GoT is its many badass female characters. From pint-sized assassin Arya Stark to the honourable knight Brienne of Tarth, to acid-tongued power players like Cersei Lannister and Olenna Tyrell (the Queen of Thorns), the women on the show are multi-faceted (literally, in Arya’s case), imperfect, and dynamic.

As we were re-watching the series recently for the umpteenth time, we got to thinking about the key role motherhood plays on the show: Danaerys Targaryen calls herself “The Mother of Dragons”; Cersei insists she commits all of her heinous crimes to protect her children; in fact one of the show’s core mysteries is the true identity of Jon Snow’s mother. Since motherhood is kinda something we’re all about here at Sassy Mama, and because who doesn’t love a good Game of Thrones quiz, we’ve come up with our own!

Lots of kids, or only one child?

I want a whole litter of kids, that way they’ll be able to look out for each other.

I mean, the more kids you have, the lower the odds that one will be a sociopath, right? Ha ha…ha?

An heir, a spare, and maybe one more just in case a demon throws an ice javelin at them.

I haven’t put baby #1 down long enough to even think about having more kids.

My son will be the prince who was promised. Or maybe his son. I’m a little fuzzy on the details, but either way, only child.

I’m not fussed about numbers, but I’d definitely prefer girls. Men are idiots.

What’s your parenting style (helicopter, Tiger Mum, attachment, etc.)?

I put my son to work the moment he was born, so Tiger Mum, I guess?

I think children should be free to play outside and climb whatever they want, whenever they want. Trees, castle towers, you name it.

Call me crazy but I just can’t say no to my kids, they are SO darn cute!

Is ‘puppeteer parenting’ a thing?

Definitely attachment parenting.

I certainly want my children to feel like they can fly. Is that what helicopter parenting means?

Never underestimate the power of a good hair accessory.

This motherhood thing has hit me hard. I’m basically wearing rags.

One word: monochrome.

I like to stay on top of each season’s new trends. Boots and killer coats are my jam right now.

The more black, the better. I also like a good bell sleeve.

A mother should be comfortable and shouldn’t call too much attention to herself, while still commanding respect. Think wools, tweeds and sensible scarves.

Long hair, or short hair?

Long hair; I don’t have time to brush it, let alone cut it.

Long hair; I like to make a statement with the color, too.

Long hair; men seem to find it mysterious and distracting.

Long hair; each and every stray gray is a tribute to my children.

Short hair; it lets people know I mean business.

What’s your family’s approach to nudity?

We are definitely a naked house. I have no problem disrobing anytime, anywhere.

I generally keep covered up, but my kids have seen me nude in a sauna once or twice.

Show as little skin as possible – I’m not sure my kids even know my hair color.

There’s no SHAME! SHAME! in nudity.

Are you kidding? It’s way too cold to even think about being naked

My son’s been wearing the same clothes for three years.

How do you feel about sibling rivalries?

Sibling rivalry is great; it shows me who really wants it more.

My siblings are far from perfect and we’ve had our ups and downs, but I respect their weird rules when I’m in their homes.

My sister and I are so close, she’s practically like my mom.

Big brothers will totally underestimate you – their loss!

A little fratricide never hurt anyone, right?

I really could not love my brother any more. Like, really. It’s kind of gross.

Describe your ideal partner?

Smart, kind, gentle. Definitely nothing like my father.

He stays out of my way and lets me call the shots.

Blond…witty…athletic. But mostly, blond.

Strong, honorable, and preferably doesn’t ride south. That sounds dirty but I mean it in a purely geographical sense.

He’s good with a sword, if you know what I mean 😉

I have a thing for men in positions of power.

Like when you kidnapped the guy you erroneously thought had attacked your child (oops!); or when you freed your family’s mortal enemy on the off chance he might help your daughters. You’re so protective of your child that you haven’t let him out of your sight for the first four years of his life – in fact, you’ve barely put him down. You’re also a big believer in reading to him – books are basically his only toy to this point. Don't forget to practice some self-care, mama!
