Because Hong Kong’s dining scene is ever changing, we want to give you a head’s up on all the latest restaurants that have opened in our beloved city. From contemporary fine dining to Michelin-starred menus, here’s what’s new in the 852…
Set to open later this year, The Murray Hong Kong will also have four new exciting bars and restaurants. Originally opened in 1969, The Murray has been renovated and redesigned and the opening is one we are excited to witness. The Garden Lounge will be for the afternoon-tea-seekers who want a bit of champers and a pre-dinner bite. The Murray Lane, will be a bar meant for the after-work crowd looking to kick up their heels and relax with friends. It will serve craft beers, premium spirits and wines, and gourmet small plates. The Tai Pan is the modern European-inspired cuisine restaurant and will feature lunch and dinner with seasonal ingredients. And for the rooftop lovers (who isn’t?) Murray on the Roof will be a 120-seat outdoor lounge and entertainment area featuring a skyline view of our beloved city. With a private dining room and bar, it will offer up meals, small tapas sharing plates, cocktails, drinks and more while DJs and special musical guests spin their beats.

Hate waiting around for a beer? Boasted as premium version of its popular chain, this LKF addition will be opening in mid-September and promises to have a self-serve beer wall featuring six on tap options! Matching the pub-populated area, this resto will have a Brooklyn styled bar, The Williamsburg, and will serve up more than 50 types of gin and ryes, in addition to beer and wine. Menu items will include Sizzling Garlic Chili Prawns, USDA Grilled Rib Eye Steak, Grilled Atlantic Ocean Salmon, BBQ Baby Back Ribs, Chicken Parmigiana, and its signature Chilli Con Carne.

Hot off the presses! The newest addition to the Black Sheep Restaurants family will be opened in September. Osteria Marzia will feature Italian fare influenced by the seaside towns of Italy. Incorporating all the flavours from those areas – including North African spices such as saffron, pistachio, rosewater and cinnamon – the menu will feature a raw bar, homemade pastas, fresh fish, grilled meats and more. Located in the Fleming Hotel in Wan Chai, our review will be forthcoming!

Just opened last week, Ying Jee Club is a local cuisine restaurant meant to rival the best. Led by Michelin-earning Chef Siu Hin Chin (he earned 15 stars in nine years!), he experiments by modernising traditional Cantonese favourites and serves up twists on classics and dim sum. We love the sound of the Crispy Puffs filled with Australian M9 Wagyu and Spring Onion. Other classics include Steamed Egg White with King Prawn Topped with Crab Roe($380); Sautéed Sliced Garoupa with Chinese Kale accompanied with Golden-fried Fish Head and Bone ($1,280); Stir-fried Sliced Lobster with Shallot, Red Onion and Spring Onion ($380); and Pan-fried Crab Claw Filled with Shrimp Paste Crispy Conpoy Topped with Caviar ($260). Another new Japanese restaurant has hit HK! ANA TEN will be opening early September at the Ocean Terminal in Harbour City. Featuring a view of Victoria Harbour, it will have four sections: omakase,tempura, skewer and cocktail. Contemporary and traditional dishes will be offered as well. We’re going to be eating a lot next month, and this is one place we’re going to try out!

You gotta love a place that knows it makes a mean noodle. Specialising in just five Southeastern noodle dishes, this newly opened local spot in Sheung Wan has us salivating at its menu items. Featuring these options only: Penang Hokkien Mee, Nyonya Laksa, Vietnamese Pho, Char Kuay Teow, and Thai Yen Ta Fo Heng, we think they sound de-lish!
