Half the Sky Charity Gala

Half the Sky Foundation is a charity set up to help the lives and futures of young orphans in China. They establish and operate pre-school programmes for little ones, provide personalised learning for older children and offer permanent loving care, medical help and guidance for those with disabilities. They also train, employ and supervise local women to work as full-time nannies at their Infant Nurture Centres, to ensure even the littliest littlies get the best start in life with daily love, care, attention and stimulation.

With the amount of great work they do to give every orphaned child a chance at a bright future, you can see why this is a cause particularly close to Sassy Mama’s heart! Ticket proceeds for the Half The Sky Gala and fundraising efforts on the night itself go directly to the foundation; sponsoring just one table will provide nannies and teachers to 7 orphaned children for an entire year!

Even if you can’t make it to the gala, you can still support the cause by donating through Half the Sky’s ‘Help One’ Programme, where you can sponsor a child, teen, sick baby or a whole family. As mamas, we seem to buy endless amounts of stuff, stuff and more stuff for our kids (as the overflowing toy box attests!) – so next birthday, how about teaching your youngster the value of giving back by sponsoring a China orphan on their behalf?

So not only will the Half the Sky Gala be a great night out, but it’s a fantastic way to support the cause too. We hope to see you there!
