This school has grown whilst honouring its lofty founding principles.
In August 2000, Hong Kong Academy (HKA) opened the red doors of its small Stubbs Road campus to three primary school students. A non-profit, international IB World School, it has grown in size and scale, while always staying true to its commitment to community engagement, inclusion and diversity, mutual respect and educational excellence. In May 2012, the school proudly saw its first students graduate as IB Diploma holders. A year later, it moved to its current, purpose-built campus in Sai Kung, from where its 10th graduating class will complete their studies next year.
Hong Kong Academy offers a unique, joyful and authentic learning atmosphere for children from 3 to 18 years. It has a student population representing over 40 nationalities, so you know that diversity, inclusion and mutual respect are more than catchwords – they are deeply ingrained in the school’s culture. Each child’s natural curiosity is nurtured and they are encouraged to ask questions to learn and grow at their own pace. HKA learners also get the opportunity to interact with local and global communities, engage in responsible action and contribute to a changing world.
HKA is committed to fostering personalised and holistic education. Because every learner is unique, a student’s success is defined by his or her individual interests, strengths and ambitions. In addition to offering the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programmes, all HKA students graduate with an HKA Diploma and the Global Citizens Diploma (the only school in Hong Kong that offers this!). HKA is the proud host of the International Schools Theatre Association of Performing Arts Hong Kong. The school offers a whole host of extracurricular activities, ranging from sports to performing arts. There are also Secondary School clubs, Mother Tongue classes, plus Seasonal and Weekend programmes!
