We recently checked out Monster Kid, a new-to-Hong Kong store that specialises in well made, educational and (crucially if you’re sick of all the plastic clutter!), aesthetically pleasing wooden toys.
As the store imports most of its stock from Germany, I was expecting some pretty top-shelf pricing… but was pleasantly surprised at just how affordable most of the items were. We spotted wooden cars from $65, with pencils, clips and other small stationery novelties at very pocket money-friendly prices.
Also impressive was the sheer range of toys available; the wooden fruit and veg selection will keep any budding chefs amused for hours, while the pricier dolls houses, pirate ships and train sets should fit nicely in Santa’s sack come Christmas time.
There was also a lovely selection of musical instruments, including drum kits, xylophones and guitars, although perhaps we’ll be saving the noisy gifts for somebody else’s kids…
