Super summer times ahead at SuperCamp

Parents often complain the Hong Kong education system is too focused on academics, which leads to too much homework and not enough time for much-needed exercise. Well, the summer holidays are in sight, and what better time is there to get the kids away from their desks and get them moving! SuperPark believes that children can learn through movement, and SuperCamp is just the place to do that this summer. After all, “you’re made to move!”.

Designed for children aged 4 to 13, SuperCamp was created to help every aspect of a child’s development; social, emotional, cognitive and physical. It may seem like just a sports camp at first glance, but SuperCamp’s pedagogical approach to play and sport is incredibly progressive. It takes inspiration from the Finnish education system, which emphasises learning by doing and the importance of playtime. From June to August there will be four five-day camps, held either in the morning or afternoon, so you can pick the sessions which work best for you. The themes this summer are skills, tricks and competition, so there will be plenty of motivation to get kids moving. They can jump into action with trampoline skills, get their skate on, compete in multiple team sports (baseball, basketball, football) and even learn parkour tricks. Just make sure the house is parkour-proof for when they get home! After all the action and huffing and puffing, they can re-centre themselves with some yoga and meditation. They will want to nama-stay forever!

Now, you may be imaging a bunch of kids happily running riot around the indoor park, but fear not! The child to SuperPark crew ratio is better than in most schools, with one crew member to every six children for the 4 to 6 year age range, one to seven for 7 to 9 year-olds, and one to nine for 10 to 13 year-olds. What’s even better, there are no barriers to who can can join in, as even though English is the primary language of instruction, it will be supplemented with Cantonese. You’re kids will be so excited, they’ll be going a mile a minute! So make sure they are dressed in their sporty clothes and have their own water bottles (they will be needed!) and SuperPark will provide a free pair of grip socks along with other goodies as part of the welcome package. Kids will even get free roam of the facilities (that’s if they’re not already wiped out) as they’ll have access to the whole venue before and after their classes. What a bargain!
