Family fun for kids (and adults) of all ages!

It’s that time of the year again – KidsFest is back and we hear that it’s bigger and better than ever before! As one of the largest English-language family entertainment events in Asia, this is always pencilled into every Hong Kong Mama’s calendar well in advance. If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, here’s a quick look at what’s on offer.

For the littlest: No children’s live theatre show would be complete without the ever-popular The Gruffalo (now in its 20th year!), The Gruffalo’s Child, Stick Man and The Snail and the Whale. Julia Donaldson’s magical world comes alive with songs, laughs and lots of fun with these shows that have successfully toured the UK and the rest of the world for many years now.

Your children may have just started reading and enjoying the curious and hilarious characters of the Mr. Men and Little Miss stories. They will, no doubt, love to see them leap off the page and onto the stage in this beautifully crafted and hilarious live stage show with puppetry and music! A new addition to KidsFest this year, featuring Mr. Bump, Little Miss Splendid, Mr. Tickle, Little Miss Inventor and many more, it’s bound to become one of the staples of the festival.

For the older ones: If you have primary school kids who love the stage, Dinosaur Zoo and Mr Bunhead’s Blast off will be exactly what they’re looking for! Dinosaur Zoo features a cast of large-scale, life-like puppets that are sure to stimulate the imagination. Mr Bunhead’s Blast Off, kids get to witness 100% pure, live science experiments and find answers to questions of burning importance to do with everything from rock banging to rocket blasting. This is one for kids aged five and up and gives little ones a chance to get up close to the action or watch the experiential theatre wide-eyed from a distance.

Schools in Hong Kong realise that live theatre can be an enriching and educational experience and many of them take kids on KidsFest trips. Make sure you find out which ones they’re watching and book the remaining shows to watch as a family and with your child’s besties. You can save 10% when you book a group of six or more; 10% when booking two shows and 15% when booking three shows! If you’re booking for the whole family, you can buy three tickets and get one FREE for weekday performances or any show at 7:15pm (all tickets must be for the same show time and category).
