Stella is all fired up to see the KidsFest performance of Snow Child by Emma Reeves. It’s a magical story about a couple who forms a small child out of ice and snow and whose longing and desire for a family imbues the snow child with life. Even though Stella’s only three, the message of love, family and hope resonates in her, and she can’t wait to see it live.

I’m dying to see Aliens Love Underpants with Stella. A fun, zany music-filled show about underpants loving aliens? How will this not be good? The story is wild and entertaining, even for people whose sense of humour is more refined than mine (I laugh at everything a 3-year old would laugh at). It’s a show based on the best-selling children’s book of the same name, and it’s making its stage debut at KidsFest this year!

Eve’s Pick: The Thee Little Pigs
A few months ago, Eve became fascinated with the story of The Three Little Pigs. For her birthday, her aunt from the US sent a book and game that came with the tiniest Three Little Pigs figurines and of course the famous Big Bad Wolf. Eve often asked for the book to be read at bedtime and carried these Three Little Pigs everywhere she went and you know what, everywhere we went, The Big Bad Wolf came, too. And while her mama thought she would be a bit scared of this crazy Big Bad Wolf, Eve really did love how he tried and tried to ‘huff and puff and blow the little pigs’ house down’. She’s already attended two shows at HKAPA (a seasoned theatre-goer already at the age of 2!) and is definitely hoping her mama will add this to the must-see theatre wish-list this January. Go Team Piggies!

Hester, one of my Sassy Mama business partners and fab friend, gave me Room on the Broom when Eve was a little baby. Having done the whole mama thing years before me, I knew that she would be giving me a book that can entertain a parent as much as the little one come bedtime. Even from a young age, I let Eve pick out her own bedtime stories and I have to say I always silently cheered when Room on the Broom was picked. I enjoy reading the clever and repetitive rhymes and love that the story is a lesson in how making room for others can ultimately help you one day. Basically this book has been a win-win for all in our house and I can’t wait to see it live on stage at the end of this month.
