On your marks…
The Central Rat Race is one of the most exciting charity events in Hong Kong and little ‘uns can get in on the fun too, with the Junior Rat Race. The “kid rats” (children between 5-8 years old) will have to walk plank bridges, navigate ‘cheese cones’ and collect cheese pieces as quickly as possible in order to be crowned the winner – mouse ears and whiskers optional! All donations go to MINDSET, which supports mental-health related projects in HK and China, so it’s a great cause – and a lot of fun too!

When:
16 October, 9am
Where: Starts Chater Road, Central
How much: Free to watch, register here

Enjoy lunch al fresco

Providing the weather plays ball, Café Roma’s beach setting on Park Island (a 24 minute ferry ride from Central) makes for a fab destination for a family lunch – with a children’s menu, child-friendly cutlery and crockery, plus plenty of toys, drawing boards and crayons to keep them entertained whilst us mamas can enjoy a sneaky glass of wine (or two!).

When: Tues-Sun, 12-10pm
Where: Shop 7&8, L1, Beach Commercial Complex, Park Island, 3446 1226 (catch the ferry from Central Pier 2)
Out with the old, in with the new!
Instead of just dumping all your old baby clothes at the nearest charity shop, the SeeSaw Baby Clothes Swap Partyis a great solution for recycling your little ones’ old outfits – and getting some nearly-new ones back too! Just bring any of your outgrown (or simply out of favour!) baby clothes for those between the ages of 0-3 and you can swap them for other mothers’ offerings. Eco-chic at its finest! When: October 14, 11am-5pm; October 15, 11am-2pm
Where: G/A, Parisian, 8 Stanley Mound Road
How much: Free (or pay $50 to take as many items as you want!)
Get sporty!

Finding it hard to tear your little tykes away from their mobile phones, Nintendo DS or the Wii? We might have just the thing… the newly opened PLAY sports centre will have them up and active in no time! At a massive 10,000 square feet, there’s baseball batting lanes and tossing cages, plus two indoor dry ski slopes for skiing and snowboarding – and let’s face it, when else would they get the chance to ski in HK?! Meanwhile, mamas can enjoy a quick cuppa in the café; check our full review for all the details.
