Bali Here we Come: Green School – Empowering Kids to Care about the Environment

TravelPost Category - TravelTravel - Post Category - By CountryBy Country

Dad here:  One of the many things I’ve noticed when living in Hong Kong is a complete lack of commitment to recycling.  We went to school in Vermont (and still have a lovely home there) and were taught to separate trash.  Once you learn, it’s pretty simple.  The other day I was on the ICE train from Amsterdam to Frankfurt and almost had my head ripped off for trying to put my plastic bottle in to the bin rather than placing it next to it for the conducted to clear.

We’ve kept a separate trash can for glass and plastic in our home in Hong Kong, however, I’m pretty sure (though not certain) that it all gets mixed together when collected.

I was especially pleased to see this post on TechCrunch today describing how The Green School in Bali is redefining education by taking Cleantech to the next level.  We’re strong supporters of the Clean Air Network here in Hong Kong and frankly, if a concept like this can work in the jungles of Bali, the best practices taught here would be a much welcomed breath of fresh air here in Hong Kong, especially given the resources available here.
