Calling all cavemen! Dave’s Cave is a great and fun read-aloud book about a caveman named Dave. He loves the cave he lives in now but thinks he can find a better one… Follow him as he goes on a journey to seek out the best cave out there.
For all your little adventurers out there, A Beginner’s Guide to Bear Spotting is an adorable and funny guide book to what kiddos should do to stay safe if they’re ever walking in bear country! Cue the sing-a-long, “we’re going on a bear hunt…”.
This is a great one and is as much for mamas as it is for your little one. The beautifully illustrated and poetically written book, A River is a feast for the eyes. Take a visual journey of a river outside the main character’s window from city to sea whilst passing a variety of landscapes. The award-winning author, Marc Martin has done a seriously gorgeous job with this one.
It’s all about perspective! A funny one for cat lovers, They All Saw a Cat is a cleverly written and humorous book about cats seen from different points of view. One page shows a child’s point of view, another from a dog and another from a fox… and so on! This is a fresh and imaginative book that your kiddos will love.
A heartwarming story about why we all need community and people around us. This colourful and fun book, Leave Me Alone! is about a grandmother who just wants to be left alone to knit her sweaters. However, when she’s finally alone, she realises that she misses the company she previously had. A great one to read together this holiday!
Picture books are great for sharing difficult concepts or world events with your kiddos but in a subtle and child-friendly way. The Journey does exactly that. It’s an insightful book about the refugee crisis for children as it depicts the refugees journey on their way to safety, with pictures to accompany the narrative. This is a great opportunity to discuss with your kids ways they can get involved and help. We recommend this one for the older kiddos.
We love #1 New York Times, best selling author, Oliver Jeffers and he’s back again with another quirky and fun instalment of The Hueys in What’s the Opposite. A great picture book about opposites and the sketches done by Oliver Jeffers is the perfect visual treat this holiday.
For kiddos who need an injection of bravery and courage, Lionheart is a great one! Follow the main character, a little child named Richard, who hears something in his room before bedtime and is afraid. He runs off with his stuffed “Lionheart” animal and ends up in a magical jungle.
The best thing about picture books is their ability to help little ones grow their imagination and story-telling. One Day in the Eucalyptus, Eucalyptus Tree is a cute and imaginative story about the characters who are held captive in a snake and are planning their escape.
Perfect for holiday sleepovers, Penny & Jelly: Slumber Under the Stars is a great picture-dominated book about the main character Penny, who is invited to go to a sleepover under the stars. A cute and wonderful story for kiddos especially during Christmas time!
