Easter Party Guide: Sweet Soirees shares decorating tips for the holidays!

Easter is just around the corner, and we’ve shared plenty of ways with you to celebrate the holiday with our events and activities guide, kids’ camps roundup and DIY easter basket. For those of you opting to bring the party home, we wanted to give you a final bit of inspiration for hosting an Easter-themed bash! Here Lauren Roberts of Sweet Soirees shows us how to create a beautiful garden-themed Easter table setting:  

I chose to go with a yellow and white colour scheme for my garden-themed Easter table. After a month of dull foggy weather, I wanted to bring something bright and fresh to the table! 

I started designing my Easter table by figuring out what food and drinks I wanted to serve. Sticking with the yellow and white colour scheme, I found all kinds of yummy Easter treats:

• Macaroons – TWG Tea
• Mini marshmallows – Park n Shop
• Mini eggs – Marks & Spencer
• Lemon cheesecake – Marks & Spencer
• Rice Krispy treats – Homemade
• Cupcakes – Homemade
• Watsons lemonade – Park n Shop

I found that the best places to find Easter treats was Marks & Spencer and Olivers. They both have a great selection of Easter eggs, cookies, chocolate bunnies and more.

A fun activity for your friends and family is to turn your cupcakes into little flower pots. This activity is really easy and will look great on your Easter table. All you have to do is make your cupcakes using a cupcake baking tray about 12cm wide. Once your cupcakes are cooled and ready, cut the cupcake holders down to where the cake starts (this prevents you from seeing the paper peak over the top of the flower pot).

Place your cupcakes inside your mini flower pots (you can buy them from the flower market in Prince Edward for $12 each). Once your cupcake is snug inside, use a flower shaped piping nozzle to decorate your cupcakes with icing (if you don’t have one of these you can buy them from Complete Deelite). Voila! Cute flower pot cupcakes perfect for any spring Easter table.

Decorating the table is half the fun. I got my Easter party props from the flower market. I decided to use a mix of fresh flowers and Easter props such as bunnies, chicks and some cute rustic flower boxes. You can’t really go wrong at the flower market! They have all the spring flowers out in many different colours and they smell amazing. I decided to go with quintessential spring Easter flowers such as:

• Yellow daffodils – $25 per pot
• Yellow pansies – $20 per pot
• Yellow tullips – $80 per bunch
• White freesias – $50 per bunch

If you’re looking for some Easter props, there are also a few shops along the street which sell cute Easter decorations like bunnies, chicks, baskets and eggs. However, go early as the flower market is nearly always a season ahead and may run low on decorations.
