Introducing The Weekly Dish: Everything you need to know in one quick read!

What's OnPost Category - What's OnWhat's On

There’s so much to love about Fridays (or “Friday Funyay” as we like to call it here at Sassy Mama HQ)… after-work happy hours, the promise of sunny Saturday shenanigans, lazy brunches with your loved ones, and (on good weeks) a sense of accomplishment from checking off your weekday to-do list. Done and done! Well, we’re adding one more to the list – our newest feature, The Weekly Dish!

We make it our goal to provide the city’s most in-depth, informative articles and roundups for parenting in Hong Kong, but we understand all too well that when you have a 2-year-old pulling at your hair and another singing at the top of his/her lungs while painting a modern version of the Sistine Chapel on your ceiling, well, it’s nearly impossible to make it through a 1,000-word article. No worries, mama, if you only read one thing a week… let it be this!

Every Friday, we’ll be bringing you an easily digestible breakdown of what’s new in Hong Kong and what you absolutely cannot miss for the upcoming week… (and a shorter intro next time too, we promise!)

Here’s our first Weekly Dish!

Okay, any new school that has a Hogwarts-themed homepage has got our attention… this new preschool looks mega-cool and we can’t wait to see the “magic” happen when it opens this month. Hamilton Hill will be the first kindergarten in Hong Kong dedicated to the performing arts so if you’re a Tiger Mama to a budding artist or musician, join their open house on 7-8 February for a first look and enjoy exclusive enrollment discounts on the day! Check out their Facebook page for more info.

The program is limited to a maximum of 50 participants, so apply now for a chance to hit the big stage!

Good news to all you dads – the Hong Kong government has introduced that paternity leave will be effective in Hong Kong starting March 2015. What’s the breakdown? New dads will be entitled to three days of paternity leave, paid at 80% of their regular salary, to be taken anytime from four weeks prior to the delivery date to 10 weeks after birth. Hey it’s not much, but it’s a good start!
