Osteria Felice – Happy and Hearty Italian Dining

EatPost Category - EatEat - Post Category - Date NightDate Night

Lunch spots around Central are a dime a dozen, but if you’re looking for something special, head to this Italian eatery!

It’s a Friday afternoon and we’re on a hunt to find a nice little romantic restaurant around Central. With two little monkeys at home, it’s not always easy to go out for a romantic date night, but we make do with cozy lunches these days. So, I’d heard good things about Osteria Felice, a new Italian place that had opened in Hutchison House recently, so we went to check it out. Osteria Felice means ‘a happy place’, and it turned out to be a happy experience for us, too!

Osteria Felice was very different from what I expected. The bar had a rustic look and feel, and the dining area was super chic. The tables are set to view the open kitchen, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere in the restaurant.

The drinks menu is quite extensive and hubby ordered one of the traditional Bellinis and, as I was feeling pretty brave, I went for the ‘create-your-own-martini’, in which you can pick and choose all the ingredients of the martini… a novel idea, I must say! If you’re dining with a crowd, this would be such a great ice-breaker.

Now for the food. The staff at Osteria Felice spoke quite a bit about the quality of ingredients and herbs, which are imported from different parts of Italy day in and day out and that truly shows in the finished product. From the antipasti selection, we ordered Vitello Tonnato tuna mayo which just melted in our mouth; some super quality Roasted Bone Marrow with grilled bread, which was just as smooth as butter and some Tuscan Cold Cuts which were again top notch.

Next came some Zuppe in the form of Roast Chicken & Parmesan Sandwich, which for me was the star dish. It was one of the most succulent pieces of chicken and cheese that I’ve ever had and it was pure joy!

In Primi, we went for Linguine with Sicilian Red Prawns and yes, the prawns are from Sicily, so red and so sweet. The linguine was cooked to perfection and I know I’m going back for that for sure. The second dish here was Garganelli with pork & beef ragu, again cooked beautifully and tasted super tender.

We didn’t go for the Secondi options because we were full (the portion sizes are pretty good), so keep that in mind when you order. Now was the time for some Dolci. As I’m a die hard tiramisu fan, I had to order that along with the chocolate fondant with mozzarella gelato. Both were fresh and polished off quickly… a testament to how delicious they were!

All in all, the lunch was super. Osteria Felice serves seriously high quality food for a very reasonable price. It is a great place for a night out with your love and also a super corner to chill out with your pals. In the middle of the financial hub of Hong Kong, you’ll find this Italian gem just between Central and Admiralty. The restaurant puts it’s own mark on it’s dishes by being traditionally Italian as well as modern in it’s own right.
