Sassy Scoop: Little Jellies

As the mother of a young daughter here in Hong Kong, I am constantly on the search for beautiful, well made clothes – clothes that have personality but don’t break the bank. This can be quite a struggle, as so often it seems that the options are either super high-end, a-la Prince’s building, or super cheap, a-la Stanley Market. And while there is a time and place for both, this doesn’t stop me from looking further.

This is where my new favorite shop, Little Jellies, comes in. Little Jellies is being brought to Hong Kong by Frederique Zwart, a well-traveled expat mom of two daughters, who moved to this great city from India two years ago. She too found the clothing market to be lacking, but unlike me actually did something about it! Her line is manufactured in Indonesia, and she places it “somewhere between Bonpoint and H&M”. It is fabulous girly clothing in vibrant candy colors, with handmade finishing, beautiful patterns and fantastic details. Frederique says it “allows girls to be girls” with all the sparkle and glitter they love, while giving mamas good value and clothes that they love to see their children in.

For those of you who need a little extra attention, Frederique offers private shopping in her home, where she can show you all the latest collections and accessories. New stock arrives every three months, so now your child will never again be dressed identically to every other girl her age in Hong Kong.

Also exciting is that Little Jellies recently launched its online website: www.littlejellies.com, where you can peruse to your heart’s content. The shop is quite extensive, offering girls’ dresses, tops and bottoms, from ages 6 months to 8 years, and Frederique has now branched out to boys clothing, kids’ home accessories, and beachwear. Little Jellies ships world-wide, and shipping in Hong Kong is free. As Little Jellies themselves say, “With global access, seasonal collections and lots of tempting treats on the side, shipping is just a click away for busy mums…”  This is one shop I’m definitely coming back to!
