At Sassy Mama we love featuring mamas who are entrepreneurs. While we are always super proud of what they have achieved we must admit that we love writing about them for selfish reasons as well because they usually offer us something that will make our life a little more complete, a little more easier or a little more stylish.

Our latest mamapreneur is Marcela Milan, founder of Dark Chocolate Fashion. Dark Chocolate (yum!) Fashion just celebrated its first anniversary and the brand came about after Marcela had her second child and was at her wit’s end when she couldn’t find comfortable yet polished looks in Hong Kong that would carry her through her crazy and jam packed day. She wanted clothes that wouldn’t break her bank account and would be easy to throw on to run her errands, pick her kids up from school or meet her friends for lunch or a cheeky cocktail after the little ones were put to bed.

The Dark Chocolate line includes t-shirts, cotton and silk tops, skirts, dresses, jeans, pants, cashmere sweaters, jackets, scarves, belts and other accessories. Mostly everything has very clean lines and Marcela pays extra attention to the latest trends and colours and incorporates the latest styles into each collection. We particularly love the fact that she uses real women rather then pin thin models for her photo shoots. Better yet, she even relies on her close circle of friends to give her honest feedback and try on the samples so she can make sure the looks she is putting together fits a wide variety of women.

I took a little browse on the newly launched Dark Chocolate online store and here are a few things I have my eye on.

This Tribal top is the perfect transitional piece for Fall. I would wear it with my dark blue skinny jeans and my new mustard yellow flats from Topshop. When the weather gets a bit cooler I would throw on a white long sleeve underneath for a bit more warmth.

After spending most of last fall/winter in black I am now moving on to warmer colours so this green petal skirt will fit in nicely with my recent brown purchases. To make this perfect for fall I would wear the skirt with my trusty cream jacket (which I wear all the time!), a simple brown tank, brown wedges and a cross body bag.

Petals Skirt, $475

I am totally copying Marcela on this pick because the day I met her she was wearing this dress and she looked fabulous! This seriously is one you must order and try on for yourself at home because I think it looked so much better on in person and Marcela looked very chic. I think I am definitely ordering this dress and putting it away for next summer.

Finally Dress, $856

Finally, while it may not be super exciting the most popular item on Dark Chocolate’s website is the Sheer-to-the-T shirt. I already have two of them (Military Green and Black) and they are ridiculously comfy and I predict they will become a go to staple in my wardrobe all winter long. If you are looking for a nice-feeling shirt without having spend the big bucks (how come shirts are so expensive these days?) then I definitely recommend picking up a few of these.

Dark Chocolate Fashion is going to launch their latest collection soon but for now here is a little peak at what is in store!
