Summer is in full swing, and there’s nothing more satisfying than silky, soft, smooth skin. Whilst waxing, threading and shaving have all been tried and tested, the results are short-term and time consuming.  If you’re looking for a safe, speedy alternative, you’ll be keen to know more about laser hair removal. Enter: Lavar. This well-loved Hong Kong salon uses the most advanced and effective system for laser hair removal.

5 Myths About Laser Hair Removal:

1. Laser Hair Removal is too painful

Laser hair removal can be painful, however Lavar’s machine uses a patented Dynamic Cooling Device, which prepares the skin for treatment by spraying the upper layer with a cooling burst of cryogen just milliseconds before the laser pulse. It helps ensure the treatments are as comfortable as they are effective. It can hurt far less than a bikini wax!

2. Laser Hair Removal lasts forever

Laser hair removal doesn’t guarantee to remove 100% of your unwanted hair, but it normally reduces 90-98% of the hair. Any remaining hair also becomes finer and essentially unnoticeable. Some people will find that a couple of hair strands will re-grow after 4-5years. If that’s the case, we recommend to do a touch up around once a year.

3. If you have dark skin/light skin you can’t have the treatment

Lavar is super honest about what the machine does. Since the laser targets dark pigment, it’s much easier for dark skin to get burnt. If there is minimal colour difference between your hair colour and skin colour, laser might not be for you. You can book a pre-appointment consultation at Lavar to get the expert’s advice.

4. Laser Hair Removal works after one session

You can see about 20% to 30% of your hair off after one session. However, an average of five to seven treatments is needed to ensure long lasting results.

5. Laser Hair Removal is safe for pregnant women

We don’t recommend pregnant women to have laser hair removal, because of the changes in hormones, the hair may grow more during the pregnancy.

Lavar is a cosy, clean and comforting salon, that aims to give clients the most relaxing and painless treatment, whether you choose waxing or laser hair removal. Laser is not only a way to reduce hair regrowth, it’s actually the ultimate way to prevent any ingrown hair. A win-win.
