Tiny Bites: Grassroots Pantry in Sai Ying Pun

This new arrival in Sai Ying Pun is sure to delight any healthy-living mama’s heart. Tucked away down a quiet lane, with a little patio area for outside dining, you could not find a cuter cafe in the Kong. With a mainly veggie and vegan selection of dishes, you can while away the time sipping peacefully on a freshly-made juice, sign up for cooking lessons, or even arrange a big girly catch-up in their upstairs private dining area. And the best bit? Their food is so super-yummy, the kids won’t even know what they’re eating is good for them! They open early on Sundays, so we’re adding them to our rotation of family brunch options!

Thumbs up for…
We love the gorgeous décor which will make you feel as though you’re in an English country cottage, the patio outside where kids can have a bit of a run about (cars very rarely venture down the lane) and of course, the virtuous glow you’ll have after ingested all your green goodies will have you feeling great for the rest of the day. Thumbs down for…
While Grassroots Pantry positively welcomes your little kiddywinks, they have a bit of work to do on providing facilities to accommodate them, so for the moment, it’s not for the super-little.

Stroller access?
You’ll be able to get into the cafe itself without too many problems, but the loos are situated up a steep flight of steps that I wouldn’t fancy dragging a stroller up.

Highchairs?
By the time you’re reading this, the highchairs should have arrived at Grassroots pantry, but probably best to give them a call before you head there to reserve one.

Kids menu?
Nope, you’re going to need to think outside the box a little when ordering if you’ve got picky eaters, but the creative and tasty options are bound to please little palates (as soon as you’ve got them to actually take a mouthful of course).

Price Range
Set lunch (main course) + Coffee/Tea is HK$95. Appetizers start at HK$52, mains are around HK$150 and juices and smoothies are around HK$50.
