Tiny Bites: Heirloom in Sheung Wan Introduce New Kid’s Menu

EatPost Category - EatEat - Post Category - Family FriendlyFamily Friendly

Hip hip hurray… Little hipsters can celebrate, as cool Sheung Wan joint Heirloom has introduced a new kids menu! We love Heirloom’s eclectic selection of nosh on offer (check out our full review over on Sassy!), laid-back vibe and yummy salads, and now we can bring the tots for lunch with mummy. If you haven’t yet popped down to this wee spot right at the end of Hollywood Road, you’re missing out — their downstairs cafe tables are perfect for people-watching and their selection of home-baked cakes and cupcakes will have you salivating. Plus, they have a bicycle in their loo, which has to be good entertainment value for the little ones!

Thumbs up for…
We can’t get enough of their Cinderella (below) and Chopped Balinese Salads which are good for you and moreish. We love how they have healthy options for kids (we don’t ALWAYS want to stuff our offspring with fries), and while you’re waiting for your food, you can pack the fam off to the fab park across the road complete with play equipment and a koi pond.

Thumbs down for…
Let’s pick up the pace a little mes amis… Hungry tikes need feeding, like NOW, and if you’re advertising as being open from 11am, you need to be ready to feed the mini crowd of mamas and bubs waiting eagerly outside. That being said, their little selection of children’s books is adorable and super-helpful to distract hungry tummies. Plus, there’s always the park.

There’s also really nowhere to change a baby due to the aforementioned bicycle in the toilet, unless you want to get down and dirty on the bathroom floor (we don’t fancy it)!

Stroller Access?
Yep, you can easily roll in off the street, but once inside, finding stowage space could be tricky.

Highchairs?
Yup, the classic Ikea ones (above), plus they have nice Peter Rabbit plastic cutlery.

Kids Menu?
Yes, and it’s a goodie, and extremely reasonably priced to boot. Choose from kiddie classics like Mac ‘N’ Cheese and Chicken Fingers and French Fries, or go for more adventurous fare such as Miso-glazed Barramundi with Coconut Rice. We ordered the Nasi Goreng for our daughter when we went, and while it’s a bit of a mild child, she was happy with it! We love seeing Steamed Broccoli and Carrots as an option, our only request would be some healthy dessert choices!

Price Range
Kids’ main dishes start from $45, with sides from $20… the best bargain in town? Brunch dishes are available on Sundays.
