Mid-Autumn Crafts: Egg Carton Dragon
Eggs are a favourite home essential, not just for eating, but also for their multi-use cartons. These weirdly shaped boxes are very versatile when it comes to craftwork, and it feels good to be using materials that would otherwise just end up in the trash! We really enjoyed making this easy and fun egg-carton dragon from I Heart Crafty Things. The best part? Dragon designs are always useful when it comes to celebrating all Chinese festivals, so save this idea for your Chinese New Year craft activities as well!
To make the egg-carton dragon, you’ll need:
- Egg carton, preferably cardboard, as it’s easier to cut through
- Glue
- Stapler
- Acrylic paint colour of your choice
- Paintbrush
- Googly eyes
- Glitter
- Decorative paper

Mid-Autumn Movie: Over The Moon
If you’re looking for a fun indoor activity for you and the little ones, we recommend snuggling up and streaming ‘Over the Moon’, Netflix’s magical musical, which tells the story of the Mid-Autumn festival and the Moon Goddess, Chang’e. Stunning visuals, humour and a heartwarming story about family and love, it’s a movie that pairs perfectly with mooncakes and lanterns. Plus, it’s a visually stimulating and meaningful way to get little ones excited about the festival’s traditions — and maybe even spark some questions about cultural traditions!
