Tiny Bites: Family brunch at 208 Duocento Otto, Sheung Wan

If you’ve always pigeonholed 208 Duocento Otto as a date-night dinner, think again, mama! This Hollywood Road stalwart offers a weekend brunch that’s as welcoming for offspring from tots to teens as it is for their parents. Boasting a delish menu, chic décor and… yes, that highly sought-after dedicated playroom at weekends (cue the sound of whooping parents!), you can get your Bellini fix over Eggs Benedict upstairs, while the tiny terrors burn off their brekkie down below.

Thumbs up: If you’ve visited 208 before you’ll already know that their menu is chock-full of delicious and authentic Italian food. The brunch menu lives up to the same high standard, offering classic brekkie dishes alongside the antipasti and Neapolitan pizzas that we already know and love. Our order of Eggs Florentine and ‘Eggs to your liking’ (a full breakfast with all the extras) were beautifully done, and my son’s Hotdog with Italian flag sauces from 208’s dedicated ‘Bambino Brunch’ menu was demolished without pause as soon as it landed on the table. We were also feeling the love for the free-flow Prosecco, wine and beer option at just $250; surely the perfect way to while away the afternoon?!

The large and well-stocked playroom ticked all my boy’s boxes, with ample toys and plenty of space in which to run around.

Thumbs down: This really can’t be helped due to layout issues, but the playroom’s location on the ground floor isn’t ideal for everyone, as the littlest tykes will need supervision. We suggest topping Daddy up with Prosecco in the playroom while Mama reads the paper upstairs…
