I want to look my best (who doesn’t), and I’ll never say no to a relaxing facial. But, there’s something about the technical jargon behind cutting-edge machines that baffles me. Thankfully, the team at High Society Skin Clinic stepped in to educate this beauty novice in all things EMFACE.
It’s no secret, we Mamas are busy! When you do manage to clear space in the calendar for a little grooming and pampering we want to make sure that the results are going to be worth it. That’s why we just keep coming back to High Society Skin Clinic. From micro blading, eyebrow tinting and lash extensions to semi-permanent makeup and a range of injectables as well as facials and body treatments that use cutting-edge technologies, it’s your one-stop beauty haven for fresh, flawless skin.
The latest facial treatment to pique our interest is EMFACE. Touted by the likes of Rebel Wilson, Alicia Silverstone and Jessica Simpson, the treatment sounds too good to be true — a “no-needle facelift” that increases muscle tone and reduces the appearance of fine lines, all in a single 20-minute treatment!
In the name of research, this Sassy Mama decided to put it to the test and take a closer look at what ACTUALLY happens when you book your EMFACE treatment with High Society Skin Clinic.

Firstly — What Is EMFACE?
EMFACE is not just another facial treatment; it’s a revolutionary journey towards a rejuvenated, contoured face that defies the signs of aging. Completely needle-free it promises to effortlessly improve skin laxity, giving your muscles and skin the lift you’ve been looking for.
A true multitasker, EMFACE works its magic on both your facial skin and muscles simultaneously by using FDA and CE approved synchronised radio frequency (RF) and high-intensity facial electromagnetic stimulation (HIFES).
- Synchronised radiofrequency (RF) — penetrates deep into your skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production, the essential elements for youthful and radiant skin.
- High-Intensity Facial Electromagnetic Stimulation (HIFES) — Provides supramaximal contraction, lifting and toning your facial muscles for a sculpted appearance.
To cut through the technical jargon, the HIFES acts as a mini workout to tone up your facial muscles, while the RF stimulates the production of collagen and elastin for a smoother look.

EMFACE Tried And Tested — The Treatment
I’m more than a little nervous but I’m quickly put at ease when I arrive at High Society Skin Clinic’s warm and welcoming oasis on Lyndhurst Terrace. I fill in a quick health questionnaire — it’s worth noting that this treatment is not suitable for those who are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding — and then follow my aesthetician to the treatment room.
She shows me the EMFACE machine and talks me through the procedure before leaving me to change. My make up is removed with a gentle cleanse the before the Emface pads are applied. It’s a very similar concept to a tens machine, and I have a few flashbacks to my last birthing experience, before remembering that those same children are also the reason my face could use a little lift!
Then it’s time to start the twenty minute treatment. As a complete skincare newbie I had no idea what to expect. Immediately the RF warms the pads gently and comfortably and I start to feel an unusual sensation from the HIFES. The sensation was uncomfortable but not painful, similar to pins and needles.
What did surprise me (although I don’t know why!) was the feeling of the muscles contracting and spasming. Under the forehead pad the prickly sensation extended through the muscle into my scalp and hairline, while the cheek pads caused my cheeks to pull into a smile. The therapist stayed with me the entire time, checking in on the intensity and heat.
EMFACE — The Results
The treatment was done and dusted in just 20 minutes, with the entire appointment taking around 45-minutes. Immediately my forehead looked smoother and my jawline had slimmed. Overall my skin felt tighter, brighter and more radiant. While it was a little red where the pads were attached (I have quite reactive skin), that quickly subsided. In fact I didn’t even bother with makeup to my afterwork dinner date.
The real results should be seen over the next 6 to 12 weeks (the time it takes for your skin to ramp up its collagen production), and for best results a series of four treatments is recommended. I’ll be sure to report back!
