Welcome to Sweet Soirees’ monthly party planning tips! In this edition, you’ll learn all about putting together the best jungle-themed party for your little Tarzan or Jane.
It’s a known fact that children absolutely love their birthdays! It’s a time for celebrating with family and friends, playing games and eating an unnecessary amount of cake. Sweet Soirées have been organising boutique parties in Hong Kong for over 3 years and we know it takes a lot of planning to make sure parties go off without a hitch. Children’s parties in particular have so many different aspects that all need to come together to make a great party. There’s the venue, decorations, games, entertainment, music, food, drinks, party ware, cake and goodie bags not to mention any extras such as a photographer, face painter, cotton candy machine and the list goes on! Having recently finished planning a series of all encompassing party packages, we are happy to guide you through the usual party planning woes by writing about our favourite party themes and what they should include to make sure your little ones have the perfect party!
This month we’re featuring our Jungle party. Popular with both boys and girls, we’ll share with you some of our ideas and tips to make your jungle party a roaring success! Here are some of the key points to include:
First you need to pick the venue for your party. If you don’t want to turn your home into a treacherous jungle, we suggest renting a space that you can transform into a tropical paradise! Look for a venue with simple decor and lots of room for games and activities.
Now you can decorate your space. We went for a luscious palm tree backdrop, green rugs and bright green balloons. Every jungle needs animals, get some fun frog balloons and scary soft snakes to bring the wilderness to life. Don’t forget to dress up your little ones, we love these cute jungle leggings and camouflage jumper by Zara Kids, add an explorer’s hat to complete the outfit!
Activities & Games
Send your travellers on an expedition with a scavenger hunt, test their stalking skills with sleeping lions and try out their navigation skills with pin the tail on the monkey. For fun and simple craft activities we love make your own binoculars out of toilet paper rolls, make your own animal masks and whipping up some delicious earthworm pudding! Simply crumble up some chocolate brownies and add some colourful gummy worms.
Your adventurers will be tired after all that exploring so fill them up with an exotic feast! We like to include the party staples of mini burgers, sandwiches and sausage rolls but try adding some veggie sticks and sinking-sand dip, paw-print cookies and banana chips for those cheeky monkeys.
It’s time to reveal the cake! Make your little one feel like the king of the jungle with a cake full of their favorite animals. Put your decorating skills to the test- will it be a monkey, elephant, hippopotamus, giraffe, tiger or a full herd? If crafting animals out of icing isn’t your strongest skills then hire a professional cake maker to bring your wild beasts to life.
