Mount Everest Trek

Family LifePost Category - Family LifeFamily Life

Sometimes we’re just so inspired by something, we just have to share it with you Mamas, and right now we’re inspired by 10 seriously Sassy ladies in Singapore.Starting on the 28th of October, the mission of this brave bunch is to end their journey 2 weeks later a staggering 5,364 feet above sea level, at Everest Base Camp, having taken on some of Nepal’s most challenging and breathtakingly beautiful peaks along the way. Expedition leader ,Valerie Boffy, who has actually summited Mount Everest last May 19th, will be completing this particular trek for an amazing 3rd times in less than 18 months, and this time, she is undertaking the challenge for a great cause close to her heart.

The trek is taking place in aid of Women for Women International, a humanitarian organisation founded in 1993 to support female survivors of war and other conflict. Working with patrons including Queen Rania of Jordan, the charity provides financial support, job training and awareness of rights to women from conflict areas and aims to provide them with the tools, resources and knowledge to support themselves and their families.

And the kick off event to celebrate the intrepid travelers’ departure took place earlier this week at the American Club of Singapore. The keynote speaker was Hong Kong’s very own international adventurer Annabelle Bond, who provided some extra motivation by sharing her experience of climbing the Seven Summits in just one year. (Stay tuned for more about Annabel on Sassy Mama very soon!).

Check out the group’s Facebook page and show them a little love. Good luck, ladies!
