An alternative and mindful birth experience?
Yes, please!

Let’s face it mamas, the very thought of giving birth to a human being can be terrifying. We’ve all heard horror stories from friends and well-meaning relatives, but at the end of the day, we really don’t know how it will all go down until we face it ourselves. At Sassy Mama HQ, we know that knowledge is power and we’re all for tapping into experts to demystify those hard-hitting questions especially when it comes to pre and postnatal questions about birthing.

A mama to four kiddos, Jeanne Hauguel of Doula Birth Story, delivered all of her children in Hong Kong which has really helped her navigate an often complicated system (especially when it comes to public vs. private hospitals). She became inspired and fascinated by the process of birth and the capabilities of women’s bodies and has made it her mission to literally (and figuratively!) hold the hands of expectant mamas as they enter into parenthood.

As a certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, Jeanne is also trained as a Waterbirth doula, Hypnodoula, childbirth educator and an IPEN placenta encapsulation specialist. In addition to all her qualifications as a doula, she is also a trained yoga teacher (certified Hatha, Prenatal and Postnatal yoga) which comes as welcome news for many expectant mamas who are looking to prepare for their birth both emotionally and physically.

From preparing mamas through antenatal classes to doula birth support and postnatal doula care to breastfeeding counselling and prenatal and postnatal yoga… there is something for any expectant mama who is looking for that extra support and guidance during the most exciting time of their life.

Doula Birth Story is offering us Sassy Mama readers a special perk! Simply mention the discount code BSSYSASSY when making a booking via email, [email protected] and receive a 10% discount on antenatal classes and birth doula support and one free trial yoga class. Yes, please! (Expires 31 July, 2017)

So what are you waiting for, mamas? If you’re hoping to have a truly meaningful birthing experience, Doula Birth Story is here to make sure you are supported throughout your entire childbirth journey from pregnancy to postnatal.

We've been looking for clever ways for the whole family to eat more veggies.... purple pasta might do the trick! ⠀
Insta-Worthy Sweet Potato Pasta 💜
1 cup of purple sweet potato, or orange (which is easier to work with texture wise i find) steamed or roasted ⠀⠀
1-1 1/2 cup of unsweetened plant milk (but we'll use regular)⠀⠀
1 clove of roasted garlic ⠀⠀
1-2 tablespoon nutritional yeast flakes ⠀
1 tablespoon of olive oil or vegan butter ⠀
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice ⠀⠀
1 teaspoon smoked paprika ⠀⠀
pinch of sea salt (to taste) ⠀⠀
pinch of black pepper (to taste) ⠀⠀
Blend all your ingredients in a high speed blender until smooth, adjusting the thickness to your liking by adding less or more (plant) milk. Adjust seasonings to your preference also, and serve over freshly cooked pasta. This sauce is best enjoyed right away, as it can clump and change in texture after being refrigerated.⠀⠀
