Sassy Mama Family Field Trips: Charlie Brown Café

EatPost Category - EatEat - Post Category - Family FriendlyFamily Friendly

This week for our family field trip we found ourselves scoffing cakes at the Charlie Brown Café in Tsim Sha Tsui. If you missed last time we were gallivanting around Kowloon Park and you can read all about our experience here.

This week the intrepid field trippers were: one mama, plus Gracie the tot, aged 3. After having one of those days, we both decided that the best plan of action was to go and eat cake somewhere.

Situated on Cameron Road, Tsim Sha Tsui just a 5 minute walk from the MTR we found the Charlie Brown Café. Opened back in 2006, it has been keeping children happy ever since with its tasty cakes – many in the shape of Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang.

The CAKES! In particular, we enjoyed the Charlie Brown Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse, which was smooth and milk chocolatey, and in the shape of Charlie Brown himself; the decadent dark chocolate Crunchy Praline Cake, with a banana-flavoured Woodstock perched on top; and the Tiramisu, featuring Charlie Brown etched in cocoa. The larger-than-life models of Charlie Brown and his friends in the café… our favourites being Charlie Brown (of course!) and the much-loved Snoopy, who both got big hugs from Gracie. This is a great way to introduce your kids to these legendary cartoon characters if they don’t already know them. It’s not just all about the cake (although some might disagree) – there are also kid-friendly savouries including burgers and hot dogs. The Science Museum is in the vicinity so if you fancy making a day out of this little excursion then read on here.

We felt a little sick after all that chocolate! Not to mention the three-year-old sugar rush! At peak times this could be a very noisy place. There was also a LOT of overpriced merchandise – get ready for tantrums upon refusal to complete a purchase on your way out!

Opening times:
Sunday – Thursday 8.30am – 11.30pm; Friday and Saturday 8.30am – 12.30am.

How to get there:

By MTR
From Central or Admiralty take the red line to Tsim Sha Tsui station. Exit at B1 and proceed down Cameron Road, walking away from Nathan Road. After about 5 minutes you’ll find the Charlie Brown Café on the right hand side.
