Parties & PlayPost Category - Parties & PlayParties & Play - Post Category - IndoorIndoor

Back to School! Now that the kiddies are back to the daily grind, it’s the perfect time to add a little theatrical entertainment to their weekends. The theatre is a perfect tool for teaching a myriad of things. I was a terrible student in school – I couldn’t sit still and was easily bored. The same thing often plagues kids with short attention spans these days. Theatre is a perfect vessel for teaching and this month has a few shows that are perfect for “educa-fun!”

Four Assassins is a well-known Hong Kong movie that has been adapted into English for the stage. This is a perfect choice for parents who want something for teen boys who think theatre is “lame”… how can assassins be lame?! Local company Sweet and Sour productions is known for high quality productions created by local actors and designers and it’s always good to support a local company!

For Classical Lovers

taming-of-the-shrew

ABA Productions has brought a famous production of The Taming of the Shrew presented by the Globe to Hong Kong. It’s an interesting production to take your teens to because it’s an all-female cast, making for some interesting discussions after the show. Shakespeare is a great thing to expose your kids to live. I hated the Bard growing up, but seeing Shakespeare live can completely change your perspective on the stories.
