Fancy a fun family day out for a good cause, mama? Supported by Hong Kong Adventist Hospital and Green Monday, the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation (HKAHF) Walk & Run for the Heart event takes place on Sunday 8 December 2013, and aims to raise funds for the fantastic work that The Adventist Pediatric Heart Fund does, helping underprivileged children who suffer from congenital heart disease get the treatment that they need to enable them to live full and happy lives.
Whether you’re up for a 5.9 km run, or a more leisurely stroll along Cyberport’s Waterfront Park, you can be sure that on the day there’ll be plenty to see and do. And with the walk open to anyone aged 3 and over, this is a whole-family activity that will do your heart some good and encourage the kids to observe healthier habits too!
The run begins at 8:30am, with an awards presentation and official opening ceremony at 10am, followed by the walk which starts immediately after the ceremony, so whether you’re an early riser or prefer a lie-in on Sundays, there’s an event for you!
Aside from the day’s sporting events, there will also be stalls providing fun for all the fam, along with photo booths to capture a take-home souvenir! There will also be awards presented for the top fundraisers and highest number of sponsors… so there’s plenty of motivation, even if you don’t foresee a podium finish!
If you want to get into the swing of things before the event, check out the HKAHF Facebook page for a touch of trivia to get you in the mood for your workout! Answer a question a week for six weeks to be in with a chance of winning a special prize. There’ll also be a photo contest running on the page, where participants can upload their own snaps that tie into the theme of “joyful green living”, with a new iPhone 5s up for grabs for the best shot!
So lace up those running shoes and we’ll see you on Sunday 8 December 2013 at Cyberport, mama!
