Tiny Bites: ROKA Rocks with its Family-Friendly Buffet Brunch

EatPost Category - EatEat - Post Category - Family FriendlyFamily Friendly

The chic Pacific Place resto, ROKA, might seem more like the ideal place to grab an evening bite with friends than to brunch with the family, but it’s one of Sassy Mama’s top weekend destinations for kid-friendly dining. ROKA is like Zuma’s more low-key little sis, serving up a similar brunch format, with buffet appetizers (assorted maki rolls, sashimi and sushi, soba noodles, veggies and lots, lots more!), main courses from the Robata grill and a dessert for the table to share of fresh fruit and ice cream. Debating between lunch here and at more trad family choice Dan Ryan’s upstairs? Forgetaboutit! ROKA rocks!

Thumbs up for…
The food! Everything tastes freshly made, the buffet actually has more choice than more-famous Zuma, especially when it comes to sushi, and they’ve got a changing table in the internal bathroom, so no need to trek back out to the mall. It’s easy to miss, but the changing table is in the last stall in the ladies loo! They also have a dedicated kid’s play area apparently, which they set up on the weekends, but we somehow missed this on our visit, so make sure you ask where it is!

Thumbs down for
It might be nit-picking as one of the GREAT things about ROKA is its convenient location in Pacific Place, but unfortunately it doesn’t have any natural light, which means it’s a great rainy day option.

Stroller Access
Yep, you can roll right in from the mall with no problems, and the spacious layout of the restaurant means parking’s not a problem.

Highchairs?
Yep, make sure to request one when you make your reservation to ensure you’re not disappointed.

Kids menu?
No, but as the brunch is a buffet, you’re sure to find something to to please little picky palettes, even if it’s just the yummo fried chicken.
